Hello peoples!! I hope you liked the video today and just incase you couldn't hear it, here is my little "script": Hello everyone, and happy pride! Today I made the transgender flag into earrings so here is the history behind the flag! The transgender pride flag is a flag that represents people whose gender identity is different than their sex assigned at birth. The transgender flag was created in 1999, designed by a transgender naval officer, believe or not, named Monica Helms. Since Monica served in the military in the 1970s, she has been an advocate for trans visibility and rights within the US Military. Each color has a representation. The blue stripe represents boys, with the pink representing girls. Lastly, the white stripe represents those transitioning, people who are intersex, and those who don’t identify as either a boy or a girl. To delve a little more into what the label transgender means, it means that you may have been born as one way, but you feel another way. It is important to remember that sex and gender are two very different things, sex being based on your anatomy, while gender being based on who you are as a person. It is even more important to remember to show respect for all people, based on gender, sex, sexuality, race, religion, or anything about that person! I hope you learned something new today and happy pride!
Just incase you can't hear what I said in the video here is my "script": Hey everyone and happy pride month!!! So today I decided I am going to make a series of creating earrings based off of different LGBTQ+ flags, while talking about the history of them!! Today I am staring with the pride flag, that has the 6 colors of the rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple! The pride flag was created in 1978 to celebrate San Francisco's Gay Freedom day parade. It was created by Gilbert Baker. The first flag also had a hot pink stripe before the red one and a turquoise stripe before the blue one. The reason they were removed leaving us with the flag we are more familiar with today is simply because of manufacturing issues with the dye colors. Each color on the flag represents something else, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for sunlight, green for nature, blue for serenity, and purple for spirit. The pink stripe was for sex and the turquoise stripe represented magic when they were still part of our flag. Anyways, I hope you learned something new and hope to see your thoughts on the earrings. Love you guys and happy pride!!
