This needs some more views, I got this full DVD and you should too because he teaches you all of this. As a bassist, This DVD has been the single biggest impact in my musical career out of anything and everything I have. Rev Jones is the EVH of bass that you might have never heard.
From Rev Jones Bio Page - Since first picking up a bass guitar in 1985 - and utilizing what BassPlayer.com calls “an array of techniques, both conventional and otherwise” - this native son of Oklahoma’s Tornado Alley has recorded and toured with headliners that include Steelheart, Mountain, Michael Schenker Group, Fuel, Leslie West, Paul Gilbert (of Mr. Big), Jeff Martin (of Racer X) and George Lynch, as well as top indie shredders like Blasted To Static, Texas Hippie Coalition, Kottak, Black Symphony. and Forte. “Whichever band he may share the stage with,” says Sugarbuzz Magazine, “Rev Jones will be the guy on stage who will give the audience an unforgettable visual and musical experience.”
Dude, you are one of the most badass and impressive bass players I've ever seen. You remind me of Billy Sheehan. Great voice too! I saw you back in March 2004 in San Antonio, Texas playing bass for Michael Schenker when he was opening for Moxy and Budgie. (MSG should have been the headliner, but whatever.). After the set, you came out in the crowd with a beer to check out Moxy and Budgie. You walked right next to me and I said "You were great up there man". You were cool and thanked me. I remember the next day or so I was still thinking about the show and I looked up on the internet to see who that amazing bass player was for Schenker. Wow, I can't believe I typed all that, lol. Anyway, this is an amazing song, and I'm going to check out more.
Rev Jones -- hands down, you are my absolute favorite bass player! That's saying a lot because I'm a rocker from the 80's, so the list of awesome bass players that I admire is long (Billy Sheehan, Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, John Myung, John Entwistle ... .this list goes on). Brother, I saw you play with Michael Schenker twice. Once was at a place called The Edge in Palo Alto, California. Can't remember the year exactly - too many fried brain cells. But, I'm guessing mid 1990's. I vividly recall you having this pony tail of sorts that you would swing around wildly as you played. My buddies and I were blown away by that and the fact that you're an absolute beast on the bass! Since that day, I haven't forgotten you. I recently came across the MSG album "Beware of Scorpions." Don't ask me how I missed it for some 9+ years. I'm a huge Schenker fan and thought I had all his music, but I was wrong. I played it a few times and absolutely loved the album. I now consider that album one of Schenker's best. EPIC is the only way to describe it. I play "Blinded by Technology" as loud as my ears can handle, and still can't get enough. I mean, that song epitomizes Schenker music... and you made it possible with your unbelievable playing. Because I loved that album so much, I decided to look you up on the internet. I was the guy that recently ordered a signed "Bakwash" CD, shirt, poster, bass picks, etc., and I absolutely love the CD. Again, EPIC work! I'm sad that my poster arrived a bit crumpled, but I'm thrilled to be able to hear some new music from you. Any chance you and Schenker will make another album? That would complete my life, brother. Be well, and please, please.... keep playing that bass. Rock on! P.S. I saw Jeff Martin singing with Racer X sometime around the late 1980's. I really dig his drumming!
Thanks so much, I'm glad you dig what I do, and I appreciate being on your list. I'm working on my new album now, hopefully early 2021 release, if you like the last one you'll love this new one. I remember playing The Edge, it was the "Be Aware Of Scorpions" tour. Thats a great MSG album that gets overlooked, and there are 3 songs from those sessions that were on other releases the are really cool songs, shoot me an email and I'll send you the songs. write me anytime
@@revjones Thanks for you kind reply. I truly am a huge fan. I recognize outstanding talent when I see it, and you are definitely one highly talented musician. I'd be interested to know how you learned to play, whether it was self taught or whether you had instruction. By all means, I would love to know about those 3 songs from the "Be Aware of Scorpions" sessions. Please forward whatever you have. If it's a CD, I'll be happy to pay you... just say the word. By the way, I have two old elementary school buddies that live in Las Vegas. Like me, they are metal heads from the 80's. They told me they've seen you in Vegas and that they met you after a show at some hotel or venue. Nils and Dave are their names.... Nils has no hair and wear glasses. It may ring a bell, but I know you meet tons of fans, so it might not. I'm not kidding when I say this -- they will be metals fans until they drop. At 55 years old, none of us are slowing down in terms of our thirst for good, hard rock music. So, thanks for all your music efforts. We truly appreciate it! Be well, Rev.
2:50 is that filmed in lancaster by Lockheed?cool song rev.i still remember you playing with black symphony at hyde and jeckls(?) Back in the day. Best cover of highway star ever.
At first I didn't like the Tales of Rock'n'Roll album (or Temple of Rock for that matter) but there's some real gems in those recent albums. I don't like how one song is glued directly to the next though, some are too short despite being very good.
