I love Desi and Lucy because they are humble. They made sure to acknowledge the writers and show appreciation for Vance and Frawley. Desi and Lucy together were magic.
YOU ARE-WATCHING THE ERA OF PURE CLASS- TAKE NOTE: NO SLOB-LOOKING WOMEN WITH BREASTS HANGING OUT OR THEIR THIGHS SHOWING, NO WOMEN WEARING DISGUSTING TATTOOS. JUST PURE BEAUTY,TALENT,GRACE AND ETIQUETTE.
thanks for sharing, that was AMAZING to see after 50+ years for me watching the Lucy universe. i never ever saw the actual ceremony, and what gracious people Lucy and Desi were. i SO SO SO miss this quartet of great actors.
Thank u for posting so sad how short life is and all of the cast is dead. But hopefully they r living with Jesus in his ETERNAL KINGDOM OF PEACE JOY LOVE.. what one of the things that gives me hope is the true amazing story of perseverance that pushed the very limits of human endurance the " alive" incredible inspirational true story of the Andes mountain 1972 airplane crash which had 45 passengers and end of their story after 72 days stuck on the mountains 16 survivors rescued. I've watched the movie at least 100 times especially when I lost a beloved loved one last year and I was devastated as he'll and I'm and my family is still trying to heal. In the documentary alive 20 years later, one of the survivors said " I believe when we die it's the beginning of eternal life, so death doesn't frighten me at all " helps me to mot panic that one day I will die, I panic and am overwhelmed with anxiety when I think I will die one day like my poor precious younger just 42 yr old beautiful sister tragically died last year march 30.. THANK ALMIGHTY GOD THAT HE RESURECTED HIS SON JESUS CHRIST FROm THE GRAVE TO GIVE US HOPE THAT WHEN WE lEAVE THIS EARTH LIFE IS NOT OVER BUT JUST BEGINNING TO ETERNAL LIFE IN HIS KINGDOM OF NO MORE TEARS, GRIEF SUFFERING BUT LOVE JOY AND PEACE....
Pioneers of the TV Sitcom. Desi Arnaz was truly a genius when it came to understanding how to make a tv sitcom really work along with wife Lucille Ball Vivian Vance and William Frawley Toronto Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
It's Vivian & Bill. Ethel & Fred don't exist except in the imagination. So if you are going to use real names for the first 2 people, you need consistency instead of going from real life (Desi) to fiction.
She played Ethel so well because of her chemistry with William Frawley, to which neither of them would ever admit. Sad....no acknowledgement of him. Did she really hate older men that much?
Vance was a pretty woman who was 22-24 years YOUNGER than Frawley. That's not "hating older men." That's not wanting to be married onscreen to a man who could be your dad. They were mismatched. Either get an older woman to play Ethel or get a younger man to play Fred. Why would an attractive woman go for a bald, grumpy older man who always insulted her?
I grew up watching I Love Lucy,( I’m 57) it was a family favorite n we’d all sit around the TV to watch together. Decades later (2022) my kids love to see these reruns!! It’s a classic due to the actors and writers. Its good wholesome fun in a world that needs more belly laughs. Thank you for sharing this clip.
They truly were pioneers from inventing the sitcom, reruns, multi camera shooting and in this both mentioned honoring the writers, the following year the Emmy’s began giving awards to writers. They were pioneers in the industry in so many ways.
For those of you that may not know, the first presenter was Richard Denning. He played Lucy’s husband in the radio comedy “My Favorite Husband”, the radio show “I Love Lucy” was based on.
Frawley quickly got up from his chair when Vivian Vance was called, even though it's always been said that he and Vivian hated each other. That's being humble and kind. I wasn't alive during this time, but I have made I Love Lucy so much a part of my entertainment, that I feel nostalgia whenever I see anything about them.
In my opinion, "I Love Lucy" was the greatest program in television history. Ironically, I think the writers were never awarded an Emmy. I loved Vivian Vance and thus glad that she won at least one award. William Frawley's problem was Art Carney- the brilliant actor who portrayed Ed Norton on "The Honeymooners" and who won multiple Emmys.
I just saw “Being the Ricardos” and absolutely loved it ! I had also read that William Frawley had once been asked about his five Emmy losses and replied, “I knew they didn’t know what they were doing when Vivian Vance got one!” Seeing JK Simmons play Fred Mertz was a real treat and he did seem particularly dismissive of Vivian Vance I hope he gets nominated; but I wanted to see this particular clip to watch Frawley’s reaction to Vance’s win. It is very subtle, but as Vivian is going to her seat and stopping to hug Lucy, you can see Frawley reach up and pay her on the back. A very sweet moment.
You can see in Desi Arnaz's face that this wasn't just an empty sentiment. The way he paused and looked out to the crowd in calling for the Academy to recognize the writers was a powerful statement. The fact that he, Vivian Vance and Lucille Ball all mentioned them showed real humility and grace on their parts, not to mention a united front as a cast. I love it.
And The I Love Lucy Show, Did Keep It Up!! Lucy, Desi, Vivian & William!!! ⭐💖 👏 👏 ⭐ 💗 ⭐ 👏 👏 💖⭐ Please, Put Them Back on TV, So We Can Watch, Real Comedy!!! 👍
It's the downfall of many for not giving Arnaz the enormous credit to the industry the ideas he created and contributed to for so many years. But as they say, better late than never.
