I have always bought and run what we in the UK call bangers. Now I realise that this term may seem a little strange outside of this small isle but please allow me to explain. A banger is a car that is cheap and broken. We have races called banger racing which is called destruction derby in the US. Hopefully that makes you realise how crazy I am that I like to own and run such a car but there are many people like me, so this channel is for them. That's not true, this channel is for me because I need to create videos about my poor life decisions so I can feel a little bit better about myself.
I hope you enjoy watching my misery half as much as I enjoy living it.
Bought one in 2014 for 1900 quid at 82000 miles it's now done 160000 miles been ultra reliable good workhorse a bit underpowered cant complain cheap motoring had me moneys worth😂
Just wanted to comment on people who are on the fence for naming their cars, especially if you arent decided on the name to use specifically. My actual first name is Amica (it means Friend) and I rarely see it as a name anywhere, but a vehicle who has the same name I do, with the correct spelling and all? I declare this vehicle to be custom crafted, designed with inspirations of clown car but still pulling fron the style of the GEO Tracker SUV when it was tprime days of Suvinspirationspecifically for me and designed exclusively foe solved this decision making for myself without the
I really love Renault s .❤🚙I own an old Laguna 3 DCI 08 automatic..it's just great. Cheap to run and no problemo with reliability.. Its done 161000 kilometers. It takes about 0,7 liters per 100 km .
Hey do you remember if there was two wire that came out of the alternator connector lead wire? And was the alternator a three pin connector going into two wires out the end?
I can't remember but the new one is now also broken so I have to replace it again. I will be doing a video on it soon so I will mention this comment and answer it.
@@ocwolfy Yep, just under. On the plus side I get to do another video about it and I got some good videos when I was stranded on the M4. I also had fun telling the RAC that I had run out of electricity.
@@DannsBangers seems rather unusual for a alternator to go bad that early. Even my Jag XJ8 form 07 had the alternator running for more than 3 years after daily driving before needing a replacement. I think it might just be the one you have that's faulty. I go with denso
@@ocwolfy Yep, that is my thought too. Thankfully I found someone who fixed the original one I took off so I will put that back on and see if it is the alternator or something else.
It's actually possible to open the boot with one hand because pressing the button will lock itself to the open position till you decide to close the boot.
@@DannsBangers That's exactly the plan now. I really can't be bothered to work on it in winter so it's now SORN to offset the MOT for warmer weather time.
Ev drivers don't get it. It's not that EV s can't get from A to B. It is easier and more enjoyable to get from A to B in an I.C.E. car than an EV. Also, we all now know that EVs are not as green as we are told, so remind me again, what reason do we need to buy an EV? All EVs are, is a product to replace a product that didn't need replacing. And worse still, the EV product isn't as good as the product its replacing.
Thanks. Yeah EV's are not "green" at all. I do think they are more fun to drive than petrol cars though (not all of them!) It is a choice. If you like ICE cars and hate EV's that is absolutely fine. Drive what you want. ICE cars will be around for a long time even if you can't by brand new ones.
You forgot something about extra weight causing damage, a mini rant about road tax, drama about all those fires in car parks, stuff about all the extra tyre and brake pad wear, mumbling about depreciation, lamenting about unaffordable insurance oh and for the complete BINGO card... Waxing lyrical about the grid can't cope and coal powered. "3/10. Room for improvement"
@@djtaylorutube So extra weight is a problem with all modern cars, fires are an urban myth that has no evidence and brake pad wear is provably less for an electric. Now the insurance issue is very real, thankfully mine is a company car so I don't pay insurance, tax or maintenance. I also don't care about depreciation. 😁
@@DannsBangers I know, you may have missed my dripping sarcasm there? ;) I don't care about depreciation either as I have no plan to sell my car. Also, the top 10 highest depreciating cars at the moment are all ICE. High cost cars suffer the highest depreciation, who buys a car and thinks it's an asset?! ICE or EV.
On the way to Carlisle yes. From Carlisle to Glasgow, no. There was no traffic on the second leg and I still had more range left. Thanks for your comment.
Dealers make more ££ on servicing and out of warranty repairs than warranty work. Had a nightmare with a Kia dealer in Treforest, South Wales.Car had no acceleration above 30 mph. They fixed slight leak in radiator by replacing it under warranty but could not find loss of power problem. Would not accept my error codes from a £30 code reader which pointed to air intake mass air flow sensor. They told us it was fixed twice without road testing above 30 mph (I told them issue was from 30 mph accelerating) Drove car home Saturday morning same fault came back, again. After 2 minutes looking into engine bay I noticed inter cooler was bent and possibly leaking / damaged. Dealer replaced inter cooler under warranty (KIA Sorento Diesel) and car fixed, surprise surprise. Don't think ,the comment about their Master Tech went down well or when I asked "when do I start ?" LOL
I won't mention Audi then cos they were awful to deal with even when car had their Used Warranty which is worthless unless your engine blows up. @@DannsBangers
Well only as much as I do in the EV. Not really planning but just having an idea about where to fuel. Especially on a long trip because I hate refuelling an ICE car in expensive Motorway service stations. Thanks for watching and commenting.
You've obviously never driven an LPG fuelled ICE car? When we had our Volvo converted, there were no apps, mostly because smartphones hadn't been invented! Planning for refuelling was via a paper map issued every quarter. EV's with satnav are easy mode by comparison.
😀@@AndrewLumsden no not totally, just don't wish to spend 40 grand to lose half of it in 2 years, I prefer to invest in memories with my family than stuck with a large car payment. And negative equity in a depreciating asset. But I do appreciate your insight into your imagined idea of my psychology. All the best
@animal355 Most new cars loose so much in depreciation though. I would much rather people keep old and good cars on the road instead of buying a new one every few years. So, enjoy your old diesel and save your money for something else.
Time for an update on this, diesel engines are better for the enviroment now..lol Manual gearbox is better than automatic, cheaper on replacement parts like clutch plates, it sounds more like you just got hold of a badly looked after voyager with dodgy suspension, bad electrics etcs and now you want to sell it on in a similarly crappy condition. Maybe you should research how they should handle and run before you bought your junk version instead of believing it was in perfect condition and make these claims about how its such a bad car
Wow, that is some crazy views you have there. The same diesel engine (even though I hate them) was awesome in the TX4 (yes, another junk car but far far better than in every way tan this pile of rubbish) A good car will still be good even when it is old and the Chrysler Voyager will never be a good car, new or old.
Apart from you buying the voyager in bad condition, mine has the stow n go seats, no need to take seat out as they fold into the floor, I have the automatic with cruise control, also driven the manual version too, neither of the screeched around corners, all electrics work great even with them being nearly 26 years old, so sounds like you bought yours in bad condition and are complaining based on it not being fixed up and not prepared to fix it either. All cars should be looked after, otherwise they have faults and no car would be classed as good being old. And go look up what the environment stats on diesel to petrol engines, they were right to put in diesel engines, and you'll find now the uk is moving away from petrol engines more in comparison to diesel ones. And as its a MPV, they are not designed to be driven vigorously as you put it, they that's probably half your issues why the clutch cable has stretched if that's all it is, and you'll be lucky if that's all it is.
Yeah, thanks. It has been a while since I did any videos because I have been busy working. I finally got round to editing this one today. I also have two cars to fix, so I should get them done too. Ah well. Thanks for coming back though and the comment, I appreciate it.
Great video, good insight into these electric cars, still wouldnt have one, maybe 10 years time when the inferstructure might well be a lot better and more user friendly and as easy as filling up a petrol or diesel car nowadays. Luckily its a personal choice...at the moment! Great vid again, thanks 😊👍
Thanks. I wouldn't have one if it wasn't a company car. The thing was that I needed a car for work because I travel a lot and the benefit in kind tax is too much for anything other than an electric car. I am glad that I choose the Polestar 2 though. I really don't blame anyone for not getting one though. Hopefully the charging will get sorted.
Can I just say, your response is one of the most refreshing I've heard in regards to EVs in a very long time. As you rightly say, it's a personal choice. 👍🏾
Great video, interesting to see your experience of driving an EV on a long trip. I've recently got my first EV, an MG4. It's a nice car and I've wanted to switch to electric motoring for ages. It's all a big learning curve in the real world, though.
Thanks. The new video is up now. Yeah the now job is awesome, what I was born to do, just keeping me busy which is a shame. Doing stupid stuff like spending 7 hours doing a job in Madrid, so yeah a bit crazy. Anyway, I will try to do my "reason petrol heads should love electric cars" that I can upload! Thanks so much for the support.
I’ve had one for a couple of months, been faultless so far 2009 TX4 manual… I love driving it. I’ve had someone try and hail me once and knock of the window another time. But yeah it’s dead fun to drive and people are always interested in it. One of the issues with them is rust, but I’m going to lanoguard mine in the spring which will hopefully solve that problem
I loved driving mine too. I really miss it and a lot of people in work still mention that they miss me coming to work in it! Thanks so much for commenting, I really appreciate it.
I’ve had two paid £800 for mine, manual transmission and faultless . 300,000 miles . One thing I’d advise is don’t buy vinyl wrapped , it’s horrible to remove, pulls the paint off really easy, also covers a multitude of sins , my first one was rotten .
Thanks so much for the comments. Yeah, they can be a pain. My clutch also failed. They guy who bought mine removed the vinyl but yeah I agree to try to find one that isn't wrapped.
For the front screen just slide the controls to windscreen and turn up the fan speed to full. It is doesn't work then maybe something is broken. Funny story for the rear screen, someone had cut the wires to mine (I guess to replace the boot lid) so if the back is not working, that maybe an issue.
cambelt is 40k 4 years now has been for a while also water pump, inner door cards can leak due to the foam seal as it crumbles same with the pollen filter main housing fixed to the body its the same foam, Butyl tap easy fixes that also the inner front wings can rust as rubbish gets blocked, best to underseal all inner wing lips also the locks micro switch can fail the puddle light shows this if its not on, had a mapped pd150 since 2011 and do an oil/filter change every year using 5-30w 507 oil
Very interesting. I've just bought one of these almost on a whim thinking it would be a bit of fun but I think I agree with you. Admittedly mine has a couple of issues that are putting me off it and I'm trying to persuade myself that I'll grow to love it once these are sorted. But I fear you're right in everything you say. I'd add that the gearchange isn't the greatest either. I also have an MX5 which I much prefer. Have you still got your TT?
So I feel a bit bad that I was so mean about it, but it just made me so angry that people love the TT so much. I never actually owned this car. My cousin lent me his while he was fixing my Jaaaag. I left my jacket in it when I gave it back and I can't get it back due to complicated reasons. Also it broke down when I was driving it. Anyway, I really wouldn't buy one as I think there are so many better two seater cars out there that were designed to be actual two seater cars like the MR2, MX5 and even the MG TF (Which I actually really like). Thanks for the comment though and if people really like the TT then that is fine, I just don't like it but we are all different.
Hi Dann, hope you're both well. I never seem to get a notification thing, and hence, I usually discover your latest vid quite some time after the event, must be doing something wrong😅. Interesting vid, hadnt really thought about all the ones left are the better ones and survivors as you say. Really really looking forward to your petrol head one. I like many will need an awful lot of convincing😉, but if we were all the same, it would be a dull old world. Take care both
Thanks for catching up. Yes, the RU-vid algorithm doesn't like me because I am not doing 5 videos a week. I did do a drive from Newport (South Wales) to Glasgow 2 weeks ago that I have a video for. That was a really good drive and I only had to charge once. I just have to find time to edit it! I also like people having different views so that's no problem but I will try to convince you. 😬
I feel you're failling to understand/deduce why they couldn't assist your car sooner. In all probability, there's only one or two people at that Cardiff Volvo center that are trained to work on Polestars and...it's vacation time. All this lightness coming from Polestar, "Oh!, no worries. Volvo service centers will take care of your car", is all a bunch of crap. Situations like the one you experienced will happen, time and time again, until there are proper, dedicated Polestar service centers. My car is about to arrive, here, in Portugal. I have no illusions about this. That is why, when a saw that the Warranty dispositions in the contract I was about to sign contained a provision that they would not cover loss of transportation if the warranty had to be activated, I made a point of contacting them and turn the verbal "Oh, sure. We will provide you with a replacement, should anything arise" into a formal written statement. I noticed they were a bit put off by it...;)
I agree with you that Polestar have seemed to mess up this Volvo/Polestar split...but, isn't the Polestar based on the Volvo XC40 Recharge? So you are saying that Volvo cannot support Volvo cars. Plus holiday season in the UK really isn't the same as Europe. It really wouldn't have taken much to confirm that there wasn't a problem with it, and the fact that I didn't have to wait until the 11th of August just confirmed it. Whoever was to blame, it was just more difficult than it needed to be and the Volvo garage sucked at politeness, knowledge and customer service.
I have a 2019 Model 3. I was in a fender bender and took it to Tesla to be repaired. They've had it almost a month and it still isn't ready. I'm trading it this fall and Polestar 2 and Genesis GV60 are at the top of my list. It also doesn't help that Elon has gone off the deep end. I'm in the States, though, not in the UK.
@@TrainsFerriesFeet To be fair, a lot of companies are struggling to get parts. However I chose the Polestar 2 over the Model 3 and I am happy with that decision. Especially learning that I would have had to pay £10 a month to have the features that I have on my car.
great cars, i had wagon s202 with 200cdi automatic it had lockes differential etc so it was fun to drive in winter then i sold it now i have sedan w202 with great color manual 220cdi with bigger turbo and other parts very fun car to drive and pretty reliable which i like
Probably but some of my other cars are better handling even when I drive them. Even the Rover 45 v6 is better somehow!?! Although there are a lot of cars that handle worse so it isn't that bad.
@@DannsBangersw202 with sport suspension handles amazing very easy to control even when back end is sliding I do agree with you on the other stuff especially rust
