I'm in the boat of "This relationship was forced and unecessary". Just goes way too out of Barney's character and their chemistry is better as friends. I get that they have many genuine moments together and whatnot but the show originally started off as Ted falling in love with Robin. Writing a love triangle is never fun or ends well for at least one character, and in this case it's Barney.
I always have a hard time watching this show. I'm still muscling my way through season 1. Even the highlights are difficult to stomach. Probably just ignore everything having to do with this show from now on.
