I noticed that he threw in a few boxing punches after he had performed some of the Wing Chun techniques. That looks like it would be a good combination to combine the two according to the circumstances
I love Wing Chun hand techniques but, as a martial artist in not going to fight you that close, unless I'm looking for a take down. Its scientific...the leg is longer and more power than the arm. I'm going to make your legs look like bags of hamburger meat. When/if you make it in, i will do whatever it takes to get the take down.
That's great in a ring but IRL kicks are almost useless. Bars are crowded, which is where most fights happen, and you aren't throwing kicks in jeans which is what you're probably wearing. WC may not work in a ring with lots of space & a referee but it works when it counts.
3:41 don't raise your torso 1 inch on that kick. leave it the same height. i'm not trying to be a d*ck but this kind of thing is important for weight transfer into target
2:55 - that's the drill I fell in love with wing chun for. And the reason I think this very art is the most beautiful! Saw it in Jackie Chan movies for the first time as a kid.
I love how wing chun can he so soft and yielding to force and then so Aggressive and dangerous when the opportunity arises when there’s an opening to attack.
Nice. What is his background? Throwing in hooks, head movement.... all the things WC should be and should have been if ever it wanted to be relevant in reality. There aren't many teachers who teach in this manner but his line looks like they do. Good for them.
I believe he teaches wing chun with JKD, muay thai, lethwei, boxing, Eric Paulson's STX kickboxing (Savate and Muay Thai mixed), shooto/bjj. Basically mma that incorporates wing chun effectively, and Eric Paulson speaks highly of him.
I always take time to like and subscribe to your stuff n Francis too.. sometimes you guys can learn from other people though.. I know you know that and are a good bunch of guys probably swamped with calls n txts ... but take time to support the up coming guys because I’ve been doing Kung fu in one form or another since age 10 n I’m now 43 so??😎😎😎
I looked at this video a long time ago and thought it was not great but okay. After realizing that I could slow the video down, I realize how inadequate this style of Wing Chun is. I now I understand now why people think Wing Chun doesn't work. This must be a Hybrid style of Wing Chun. It's no good.
