The Kokes are Kenyon College's oldest student-run a Capella group, named for the Kokosing river which flows past Kenyon. We get together 5 nights a week and sing. Two major concerts a year, and a really fun two-week winter tour around the Eastern U.S. which ends with a smaller concert at Kenyon
WANT TO JOIN? HERE IS HOW - We hold auditions at the beginning of every year. Keep an eye out for emails and come to the clubs fair!
I know what they're trying to do with dynamics but the soft sections are fairly lifeless. It sounds MUCH better when they're pushing some air through those lungs. 2:25
You guys are my new favourites, I’m gonna be sure to subscribe and tell everybody I know to check out your tunes. If you guys did By Your Side by Beachwood Sparks I would die happy
Having grown up in the 60's into the 70's this touched my heart in so so so many ways' to which people which did not grow up in that era would not be able to understand. Thank you for your rich rendition.
Wow! Awesome solo, Sam, and a great arrangement too. You have no idea how this thrills me to see dots connected in my life. The Kokosingers are alive and well! In 1964-65 three of us started the Kokes, and the male a cappella tradition at Kenyon began. In 1996 my son introduced me to his favorite British group, The Cure. This Spring I met you guys at the reunion, and after the rough recent recruiting years it was exciting to see your enthusiasm and love for singing … and there is hope that the Kokes will have another 55 years! Yesterday I found this recording you made 3 weeks ago. Today I forwarded it to my son (he’s 50, I’m 77) and he loved it! The dots are connected. Know that the Kokes alumni are solidly behind you guys. Joy to you … Tom Ulrich
