About to pick up one of these. Never heard a cymbal sound so... EQ'd? Lol Like it's ready for a mix as is. Lot of shimmer with a strange darkness to it, quick to explode and then decays quick. Love it
yep... Wrong video name. He's mainly playing a 20" Masters Dark crash ride, not the Signature traditionals 20" ride (which isn't even on the video, as the one on the left is an 18" crash)
@@falconshock3677 because back when take 5 was recorded zildjian didn't have as many series as they have today! It's always been my understanding that the "A" series are the original cymbals that zildjian manufactured and this take 5 cymbal is just a 22" standard ping ride!
@@MatthewBarelick the hammering is 100% different on this one as opposed to most new As, and the lathe grooves don’t look as deep here, I’m pretty sure back in the 40s and 50s they used to lathe super tight so they’re bringing that back. The new As are redesigned as opposed to the old ones, so this is gonna be a different cymbal
@@falconshock3677 well I own a 1964 zildjian ping ride and this cymbal sounds very close to it I picked it up along with a 64 slingerland 4 piece jazz kit a 16 crash 13" hi hats for 75 bucks at a flea market I couldn't reach into my wallet fast enough cleaned them put new remo pinstripes on both sides of the toms and new remo snare heads sold the kit for a grand! Anyways this cymbal and my ping ride sound just like each other spot on tone!
great exercise. Now that I don't have access to a drumkit, I do this everyday for coordination, dynamics, groove etc. In his book a foot ostinato is added as well...
