Great reaction, thank you!! “My Tears Ricochet” is my favorite song from Folklore & tied for 1st place overall in my book with “All Too Well” (10-Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version). I love this stripped down Long Pond Studio version but I prefer the studio recording found on the album, which is the same version she performs on her Eras Tour. From her vocals simulating a choir in the beginning & throughout the song, to those powerful drumbeats during the bridge, to her high notes, and then the choir vocals again afterwards as the song quites down after the bridge before the last verse…PHENOMENAL!!! Please check out that performance, would love to see you reacting to it. You can find it on RU-vid by searching “My Tears Ricochet Eras Tour.” Thanks & looking forward to watching your other- and more- Taylor reaction vids from you!!
This album, and Alice In Chains "Dirt", were the soundtrack to my senior year of High School. It's actually criminal that they didn't blow up like AIC, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and other successful artists from that time.
This song resonate with my school days where i was bullied for being shy and innocent kid. It was probably dark phase of my life cause i never shared those experiences because of embarrassment. I never understood this argument of people saying she writes about her ex only.
when's the next Weekend music reaction? Please react to either Take My Breath, Sacrifice, Starboy, I Feel It Coming, Earned It, In Your Eyes, Lust For Love (with Lana Del Rey) and Save Your Tears (remix feat. Ariana Grande).
This version made me appreciate the original even more. It’s like a continuance of the feeling the original gives you. This version brings me to tears almost every time I hear it. It’s just gorgeous.
Been listening to Purple since '72 and they are my all time favorite band closely followed by Black Sabbath. What I've heard so far is instant DP classic stuff. Fantastic.
If you like this you should listen to the lyric video to tolerate it and then follow it up with the live version from the eras tour! You’ll be blown away
The "controversy" is from Year Zero...watch live at Hell Fest 2016...with Square Hammer that was Papa III...Affectionately called Terzo. In Italian it means 3
Life Eternal is my favorite song from Ghost. Definitely suggest watching/reviewing the video for that, you get a good look at not only the band but also the devotion of the fans during a Ritual.
This is a really interesting band. As a fan of black/death metal, especially the Scandinavian stuff, I was a little shook up the first time I heard them as well. I like them a lot, though. The "poppiness" works and while there are plenty of elitist haters out there I think they're great. As far as the imagery and overall concept, I believe Tobias has said something along the lines of: "I wanted this to be the band that people accused all the other bands of being during the Satanic Panic of the 70s/80s/90s." And, again, it works and it's exactly as serious, schticky, fun or silly as you want it to be. We need more of this in rock & roll as far as I'm concerned. Clearly it's possible to be accessible and still have some edge and old-school grit. What to check out? Do whatever...there will be stuff you like and stuff you don't, but they're not a one trick pony for sure. Lots of great musical ground covered and it's all good. I've got no complaints even about the stuff I don't care for. Definitely anything off the first 3 records is worth checking out. Not a bad track to be found there.
The video is a watchparty she made to show the full album to their fans for the first time, they were there listening to the album and she was there. Its not like the Music Video, thats just the moment when that song showed up at the event. She wasn't singing, just reacting to the original songs with the fans
I've often wondered if the video editing was off in this video. There's a couple of shots on Pau where her body language and head motion doesn't seem to be matching the harmonies she's singing. So, I'm wondering if in editing, they didn't plug in a video shot of Pau that matched her drumming at the time, but wasn't the actual video for that actual moment in the live performance. And I had not ever noticed those ghost notes on the hi-hat you mentioned, but I'm wondering if it's the actual video from that actual moment, and not just a spliced shot. Backing tracks aren't the worst thing in the world, I'm a huge Jinjer fan. And they use backing tracks a lot to supplement their 3 piece (instrumentation) sound, and also for Tati's harmonies. And I have no problem with it, 1) because it's obvious and they aren't trying to pretend, and 2) because they are trying to give us a full experience of their musical concept without bringing in session musicians for live performances that no one wants to see. However, I would be pretty disappointed if I found out they were supplementing Vlad's drumming with ghost notes or base kicks. So, I can't say I like the idea of Pau's drumming being supplemented in the same way.
