Just a dad that enjoys airsoft. Not your average camping, no hit-calling geezer. Will outrun all the youngins and not afraid to get sprayed at close range. If you've seen any of my videos, you know what I mean.
Never forget, camping and cheating is for weenies.
I am hoping you'll see this and reply. Just got my Article 1 2024 Midnight edition. I am not new to HPA. I have MTWs and 8 polarstar builds. That said, this is my shortest inner barreled gun by far. I am limited to .25s as my heaviest option at my local field. I set the dwell and it chronos 300fps @110psi with the hop set for that BB weight. Is this your same experience? Sound like normal power output?
Hey! Yes that's normal output, I get about 320fps with .2's at that same PSI setting so 300 with .25's is about right. The short inner barrel is the downside when it comes to air efficiency, but you can also swap out the inner barrel for a tighter one which will help make it more air efficient.
@realairsoftdad I appreciate the reply. I figured that was going to be as good as it gets but it's nice to confirm with someone else who owns one. No one locally uses anything from Wolverine so it's hard finding info.
Yo! I mentioned this in my video, I recommend the stock hop-up unit unless you care about looks, then the airsoft masterpiece unit is quite good. There's virtually no performance gains from the stock unit to the AM unit, but the AM unit looks much nicer. Buckings I always use the ML decepticon 70 degree.
For the record, there totally is a carbine kit for the hi capa. It's kinda expensive, but oh my god has it been unexpectedly more awesome than I ever imagined :)
Either one is great! If you plan on doing significant upgrades the gold match is kind of pointless since you'll be replacing most of the parts. I've used standard and gold match as bases for building.
Well I use a aap01 and it works fine I replace everything works fine but you need a thumb rest and it never happens to me also your trigger is just not good there better ones like a flat you squeeze it a lil and it shoots
Glad you had a positive experience with the AAP! This is just my opinion, that's all. I see many people using them so obviously many will disagree with me. The trigger I have is as close to stock as it gets, which is a fair when comparing to the stock trigger of a hicapa. I don't think there's anyone that will say stock for stock, the trigger on the AAP is preferable over the trigger on a hicapa.
Three things on the AAP-01: 1) Is there an after market Trigger Assembly to fix the break issue? I completely agree that the trigger is mush when I had my two. 2) Could you shave down the mag release so it does not stick out so much? Switching it out for another after market setup available? Swapping the mag release to have it on the opposite side like you mentioned? 3) Does the newer version of the pistol (Shorter version / C) have the better hammer setup? Otherwise not a bad pistol.
1 - I haven't found one but even if there was a trigger that can shorten the distance to the actuation point, it would still have the same lever action trigger pull which in my opinion, is inferior to the trigger on the hicapa. 2a - You can shave it down but the amount of force required to release the mag wouldn't change. It releases the mag at about 20% of the full mag release button press. 2b - There are aftermarket mag releases available and you can swap it ambidextrous. I did mention swapping to the other side MIGHT solve the issue for me, but then my right hand index finger would be resting on it and arguably could press the mag release accidentally even more easily than leaving it as is. 3 - From my understanding, the AAP01c has the same hammer assembly as the AAP01 and I can't find any information stating the contrary. You know what is the biggest oversight in our solar system? Why doesn't cow cow sell the full hammer set and housing already assembled? That way people can remove the two pins, remove the entire hammer housing and just swap in the steel setup. That would change the fix from 1 hour to about 2 minutes. COWCOW - if for some reason you ever see this....sell as drop-in ready full hammer set in the assembly!!
Several options for the mag release; Tridos mag release spring. For me this is pretty much a requirement now on my AAPs. Makes the force required to actuate the mag release significantly heavier. Action Army, CTM or Nexxspeed mag release. All three have a seperate button you screw into the main release body. On a stock frame if you simply leave the button off the release is almost frame flush. For trigger; Any adjustable aftermarket glock trigger works. Allows you to shorten the trigger pre travel and over travel to hair trigger levels. I use tappet plate springs instead of the stock trigger spring when doing this as adjusting the trigger to a very short travel tends to stretch the stock spring too much and breaks them. Standard tappet spring for very light pull, dsg or high rof tappet springs for a bit stiffer pull. Jefe's Airsoft Solutions will shortly be releasing a dedicated short pull trigger bar! Will be interesting to see how that works out. For hammer; Yup they just kinda suck and are a weird spec. CowCow just slapped AAP on their G18C hammer group and called it a day even though the AAP hammer group is a slightly different profile so it tends not to be a drop in fit at all. CTM, TTI and Mastershot are better for this and Tridos make a straight replacement hammer as does Action Army themselves. I've had a generally negative experience with CowCow tbh compared to other companies. Hopefully some of my experience faffing around with AAPs is useful to you. I've spent way too much money of these things XD
@@MacMeaties I appreciate this writeup! You're right on everything but tbh, I don't see the value in the AAP over the hicapa. Especially not stock for stock. I'll stick to my capas and give my AAP away to someone who will appreciate it :)
@@realairsoftdad You're welcome. I can absolutely empathize; AAPs are one of those "it's not a hi-capa" sorta guns. You can absolutely turn them into a cracking gun but capas come out of the box swinging!
Very informative video I wanted to build an aap-01 but your video just makes me want to build a 2nd hicapa instead lol P.s. my hi capa has a stock lower too with about a 30k+ round count and still runs so well, hope to see you at gamepod one of these days!!
new player here this video has led me to the article 1 and ive had an absolute blast with it thank you for fueling my great financial decisions 😂😂 but for real this thing rips
Thanks for the advice. Especially from someone who has experience with all these systems. Went with your suggestion at the end and got myself and mtw. It's great thank you. Hard to describe how good it is. But the hype is real! I've built a race gun capa where nothing was left stock to maybe the detent/spring. It doesn't compare. I've tried a carbon upper p*, still not as good. The price to value is deeply under rated. I'll grab an article 1 eventually, the looks are still growing on me lol. Thanks again for the content and effort you put in!
@realairsoftdad Had my first game with it. Glad I took your advice man. Wow it's a cheat code lol. Mtw shoots lasers. I've had a lot of different guns over the years and this is at the top. Just works so well out the box! Cheers 🍻
Great video man, shot out to the A1 Fam it keeps growing, i think we are now up to 6 of us fielding them together at gamepod. See you on the field soon brother.
Ballahack looks SICK from the videos I've seen. You'll definitely have the opportunity to make some awesome content! For a custom build that I'd need to ship, let me think about it for a while. I want to figure out how to sell and ship something in a way that's the most safe and secure for both of us.
Nope, he's 2 lol so got a ways to go. I like a simple clean look when it comes to a theme/color scheme for hicapas. I see some with purple/green and all sorts of mix matched colors and it's just not for me. I like a nice Gold/Black, Bronze/Black, Purple/Black but you can make the hicapa really any style you want! That's half the fun in them.
Nice combo! Having a hard time between the article 1 or mtw 9 pdw. Thoughts? Already have a decked out capa with old school masterpiece parts. Article 1 with a stock might be the ticket
Thanks! My vote is Article 1. I have the ASG Evo Scorpion which the MTW9 uses those mags, and that's the biggest reason not to get them. Those mags are expensive and they don't hold a lot of bb's. The Article 1 has been a great gun for me and for 800 bucks you can't really beat it in my opinion.
How does the weight feel in your hand? I'm thinking of making an ESG build, but I don't know if I will like the weight distribution. Also, love the video keep it up!
Thank you! The weight feels good. I have two ESG's and the aluminum one is considerably heavier than the nylon one which is a plus since the bulk of the weight is in your hand and doesn't feel back or front heavy at all. With the nylon grip most of the weight seems to be tank side. Either way I highly recommend :)
@@realairsoftdad I am leaning toward the nylon one because I want to keep my gun light. With the nylon one, does the tank side weight feel like it's forcing the grip to engage your hand?
I think the best way to describe it is with the nylon grip if I hold it by the grip and extend my arm the tank acts as an anchor and tips the gun up. The aluminum grip is more balanced but holding it against your body there's minimal difference.
@@realairsoftdad Thank you for the feedback. I have a problem shooting too low because i don’t have a stock and everything is front heavy. I might go with the nylon grip and see if I like it. If I don’t, i’ll sell it and buy an aluminum grip.
what are the least painful places to get hit? i want to know because im gonna start playing airsoft, and i want to inflict the least damage possible to be nice and to avoid conflict.
Wherever someone is wearing gear then like a backpack, chest rig, or plate carrier. I wouldn't stress about only aiming for those spots though since it's airsoft and everyone playing is signing up for it.
I like it a lot! For 800 bucks I don't think it can be beat. Super reliable, consistent, accurate. It also feels very high quality in your hands. 10/10 would recommend.
I would say so yes. The article 1 is really quite accurate out of the box - probably as good as you can expect from any airsoft gun, even those with much longer barrels and a much higher price point.
You can build them pretty easily, or you can purchase prebuilt ones from AirtacCustoms or airsoftjunkiez. The parts list is in the description of the video if you decide to build your own.
Thanks! In this video I'm running a brighter-R tracer, but for green tracers I prefer my brighter-C. It's just a tad bit brighter but it makes a difference.
Sooo, which one did you like better? I too am a dad..that’s recently taken to Airsoft with my boys and we were just considering building one of those two!
