Are people in this comment section mad or something? Those dances are not from the region of Macedonia. People on video are Thracian Greeks, more specifically Marides - Greek-speaking people from Evros district in Western Thrace. They speak and sing in Greek language. They aren't Bulgarians. And this is not strange, that their dances and folk costumes could be similar to those of Thracian Bulgarians etc. This is completely normal, that if different ethnic groups live near each other for centuries, their share similar traditions, costumes, music, food etc. And as good as I know Marides were closed society, but they were literally surrounded by Bulgarian, Turkish and Pomak villages. Music and dances transcends boundaries.

@@slavkodimovski2111 When will that be, Slavko? You failed as VMRO Bulgarians, you failed as fascist Bulgarians, and you failed as Yugoslav communists. Your entire history is stealing and failing. You should get on your knees and thank Greece every day for investing in your country and protecting your airspace, otherwise North Macedonia would in danger of being ripped apart by Albanians and Bulgarians. Of course Macedonians exist. I'm proof of that. My grandparents were born in Monastiri, which is now occupied Bitola. You destroyed the unmistakable Greek character of that city.

Hahahah they call it greek traditional song. This Albanian song, so beautiful. The Greek are stiil living in their propaganda of madness. They belive that everything in the world is Greek, even the suflaki😅. Thanks god today the information is available for all people that have eyes and logic. Only the madness of Greek propagand could invent the term of greek-albanian or turk-albanian terms. They invented it becouse they knowed that half of population when Greek stated their independency were Albanian. Thanks god and for Greek ironic the Arabanites have saved Albanian leanguage for millennium and not assimilated.

For all those who write here that it is a Bulgarian dance or was stolen by the Greeks. I would like to briefly explain the historical context. The peoples in the region of today's southern Balkans have been dancing such dances since ancient times. Greeks, Illyrians and Thracians. Over the centuries, all regions have developed different dance styles that follow the same pattern. The Thracian culture, a wonderful culture, ceased to exist hundreds of years ago. Due to the spread of Greco-Roman culture and the Christianization of Thrace, the region and the population became Hellenized (probably there were remote regions that kept their language). In addition, Greeks and Romans lived side by side with the Thracians in the region. Later the Slavs and the Turks came along. For centuries, people mixed both culturally and linguistically. Only through nationalism did the population separate based on religion and partly also on language. What remains is the legacy of the region that continues to this day in the three nations of modern day Thrace. Yes it is a Bulgarian dance, yes it is also a Greek dance and yes it is also a Turkish dance. Above all, it is a Thracian dance that we can all be proud of.
