The theory around Gogo in FF6 has been long debunked by Kitase. Gogo is just a character added late in the development with no background to his/her story whatsoever that's it. So any Daryl is Gogo, it's not the Gogo from FF5 who uses the rift when you successfully mimic or whoever are misleading and lies. The world building in both FF7 and FF10 has been confirmed by Kitase but they only share it in its conceptual story and bits of scenes like as you have it in the video of that scene in FF10-2 what Shinra says is deliberately put there to lay that foundation, there's also a photograph of what looks like Shinra in FF7 Remake. That is no longer a theory since it's in the wikipedia under "Legacy" for both games. While the Squall is dead theory was debunked by Kitase he did say he might use it in a remake of FF8 if it gets green lit. I'm having a hard time remembering if anything was said about the Knights of the Round as this one is relatively new to me. I think it's just a normal summon. I can see how the theory would work but it's not enough to buy into it. There's more theories such as Rinoa being Ultimecia. This was I was hoping it was legit because it would make more sense to me than the actual game's story. If anybody wants to listen to Kitase talk about fan theories there's two video below: "We talk to FFVII Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase!" by EDAMAME Arcade Channel, watch?v=BA1gwFKq7u0 "Yoshinori Kitase retracts his statement on _________ fan theory _______" by reibitto, watch?v=k8asSQorSng
I feel putting Ardyn at 7 is just criminal. And it totally sucks that sucks that much of the more important moments of his backstory and crucial moments for not just his character but how he also pulls the strings in FF15, but its hard to ignore how tragic his backstory among the rest of the FF villains and how he is one of the strongest villains in the Franchise. And I am curious about everyone's top 5 as well! If I were to rank mine: 1. Ardyn 2. Sephiroth 3. Kuja 4. Kefka 5. Caius
i just make a separate save for each branching path so i can get all chars in what is effectively one play through. since the game has continue + you can just go to each branching save and collect the chars from them and bring them all into your main save. saving kid is always my main save lol
I think it suffers greatly having to follow in the footsteps of 7, which is arguably one of the greatest games of all time. I struggled to get into 8, i wanted to like it but i never ended up finishing. That said, the segments with Laguna and "the man with the machine gun" were great.
I love this game and would love to see it on the PS4, PS5, and especially PC (64-bit and 4K to 8K)! People are working on the PC version. They show their process here on RU-vid. You need original disks for legal reasons. This is why I'd love to see the legal owners reissue the game or help those working on the PC version here on RU-vid. While this groups is working to improve the grphics they have limits. Being sble to do the scenes in 4K to 8K natively would be outstanding. I would buy a PC 4K to 8K version (say $100 or so). Thank you for this video.
My problem with Chadley is: that it makes Zero sense for me to help him with his research. He openly speaks about being connected to Hojo, he let us reactivate Shinra control towers and... Why the heck are we doing that?
I wonder what a cyberpunk setting would do for Final Fantasy? I don't think they have ever gone all in on something like that. Give me that and turn based combat!
I've never understood the hype with Chrono Cross. Alot of effort was put into it, and its OST is excellent, but it so fundamentally contradicts what made Chrono Trigger great that calling it a sequel is a little insulting. What really makes Chrono Trigger so great was how svelte it was compared to other RPGs of the time. Everything in the game's menu and gameplay mechanics were designed to keep things moving and not have you think about party management very much. The fewer playable characters, shorter game length, faster battles all struck a mainstream chord in grabbing your attention and keeping it. In alot of ways Chrono Trigger is the real FF7 prequel. It showed that you could hybridize RPG mechanics with cinematography in the service of speed and drama with fewer deeper characters. 4 of the 7 playable characters don't go by their given names, and there's an overarching theme of the time you come from dictating self-image, that when they are freed from their zeitgeist they get to determine who they really are and change fate. Chrono Cross does none of these things, gives you a bloated cast, a slow battle system, and a dilution of character development that sinks an otherwise well-designed game world.
Oh I have a theory. But it is a sad one, and I doubt it will be embraced. Kitase has confirmed the VII-X connection. Nojima said the idea is that one day around a thousand years, after the events of X/X-2, Shinra's ancestors travel the cosmos to reach Gaia. But it is unknown how long before the events of VII Shinra arrived. I like to think it was long before Jenova's arrival, or even before the Planet created the Protomateria. I never actually want this mystery solved because it allows for individual interpretation. The same goes for never knowing the true fifth act of Loveless and the events after Dirge of Cerberus. After X-2, the developers wanted the audio drama FFX -Will- to reverse the happy ending. It doesn't sound like they were too happy with X-2 reversing X's heart breaking powerful ending. It's interpretable that Yuna bringing back Titus, after he died a second time, also brought back Sin. Perhaps she was falling into the same traps of Yu Yevon, Yunalesca, and X's Omega Weapon with summoning. What ever followed, I do not know. But there are dark implications. My Loveless theory is Genesis has carried out his final role: a simple act of good will in helping Weiss live a normal life. What better family than a pair who had lost a son about his age: the Fairs. Ten years or so later, Weiss is content and Genesis fades away. At this time Cloud and Denzel (neither of whom ever saw or heard about Genesis after Dirge) sense that they must go on a final journey. On this journey they learn the secrets of how the Cetra were created: by means of handing down love and legacy. The Angeal-Zack-Cloud legacy passes onto Denzel who hears the voice of the Planet and tells Cloud that they must go to Mt. Nibel. When Cloud asks him what is there his reply is, "The Promised Land." On the slopes of Mt. Nibel we learn that the legend of souls traveling beyond is true. In a sacrifice at world's end, Denzel follows the path of the Cetra departed. In doing so that last of Jenova is purged. But as a balance is restored, a father and son are parted forever.
I wish people could just admit Gogo is genderqueer and doesn't feel uncomfortable equipping female-only stuff. The game basically tells you as much upon encountering them! I just can't get into the Darryl theory. Setzer didn't lose his memory of her. But I do find the Gilgamesh idea interesting. I have a fan theory about Shadow too, based on his dreams. Some of them are quite clear that there was another man in his life very important to him. He is in a way my favorite FF6 character, a great tragic antihero.
Kitase I believe said he liked the theory but it was never something they considered. He said that the wound is higher up near squall's shoulder. He did say that if they ever were to revisit or remake the game he might consider leaning harder into that thought
Just the thought of knowing that you only have a year to live a whole life would unreal. Vivi makes the best of it and it is a such character building aspect!
Can you believe how believable all this is. It begs disbelief of believing haha Great video I love that theory between FFX and FFVII connection however I always just putting it down to them trying to relate to the PS1 games whilst going in a different direction. Didn't know about the knights of the round theory 😮 I'd love to see them in the final game Some great fan theories here
I'm in disbelief just reading your comment!!!!! Haha. The Knights of the round theory has always been true in my mind. Can you imagine if it were real?! So cool.
@@ErekLadd well as far as I'm concerned it's definitely real now haha. I hope they go into it in so much more depth with a backstory like that behind it. Heck that would be a great video in itself 😉😜
I have heard that Gogo is Relm's mother. There are three characters that can waer the Memento Ring. A ring that was from Relm's mother. Relm, Shadow (Relm's father) and Gogo (Relm's mother)
You could make 2 new topics about 1) The development of Final Fantasy 6 in how they were finished with the game and the game was going to originally end at the floating continent. But they were way ahead of schedule about 3 months I think and they decided to add more to the game where the second part of the game starts for those who know what I mean within that span time. Which is why Gogo has practically nothing to him or her backstory. Also, the Final Fantasy 8 version we got is the cut into pieces version. In the original Laguna was going to be part of the main lead and not as a side character like in the final version. There's some remnants of it in the final version of assets for Laguna's part. If you want to know a bit more I believe the youtube channel Final Fantasy Union just covered it some days or a week ago. It was rumored to be 8 discs long but I doubt that. I also read it over at wikia's page for the game. I'm sure there's a lot more development stories like this for Final Fantasy that I would like to know more about. Like the lost Final Fantasy 7 early SNES sprite version where only screenshots of it exists. There's also cut content like the two mysterious town songs Nobuo Uematsu composed that never made it to the final version of FF6. It was released as a special mini disc soundtrack called the Final Fantasy 6 Special Tracks named Town 2 and Town 3. I'm sure you can find it on youtube on what they sound like It's so different from the rest of the FF6 Soundtrack it must of been real early. I wish we can get another round with Kitase or Sakaguchi and Nobuo Uematsu about these questions things.
Something... something... orphanage, memory loss and the MOST CONTRIVED STORY PLOT i have EVER witnessed. Also, we were chasing Squall's older sister for reasons i forget because the story is just that disengaging at times. But Laguna was pretty cool, i guess.
Most of the hate is because of the junction system. Most of the complaints are around how the system is very complicated and extremely grindy and boring.
My parents definitely didn’t get video games when I was growing up but I do have a memory of my mom learning how to play tmnt on the nes and we would play together a lot during the summer.
Been following Paige’s channel for the last year. Been enjoying her topics and the way she presents the material. Enjoyed the conversation you two had and kept things flowing naturally. 🎉
Great convo! Erek, all of these podcast conversations are so wonderful because they are authentic and engaging. Love seeing all of these perspectives! Keep it up! :)
