Great video, especially of locals who were there. Reminds of The Arlington in Hot Springs. Reading how Texas springs went dry right and left in a certain time period... like the great fires and Dews (Galveston) of the 1800s and into the anarchy years... like steam trains... pollution non-existent in the age of "Tartaria" and the 1,000 years of Christ Consciousness. Check out Tartaria.

Yes it’s sad to see what 10 years, this video was most likely made in the late 80’s or the 90’s maybe the early 00’s at the latest cause there’s a video on here of the hotel in 2009 and it’s already starting to fall apart and in 2018 it’s practically falling apart from roof damage and vandalism.
@@ctg6734 it’s certainly is the building never should’ve been left to run down and decay as much as it did before it finally got remodeled and repaired
Thanks for sharing this. This is the only Baker Hotel video I've seen so far where it has electricity, a working elevator, furniture and hasn't been vandalized. If it was no longer a hotel at this point, who was paying the bills and giving tours? It's a real pity they let it go to pot and just walked away. Shame on them! Really wish a longer version of this presentation had survived.
Also, I would like to add that there were a number of factors that lead to the Baker closing it’s doors, firstly being the day it opened was November 9th 1929, why is that important? Well the great Stock market crash that led to the Great Depression was October 24th 1929. Talk about rough timing, but on the contrary the Hotel did indeed manage to somewhat flourish for a time, even in such unfortunate times due to Fort Wolters (later named Camp Wolters) army base that was right outside of mineral wells, however business was steady declining as the years rolled on, with business peaking from 1959-1968ish, due to Camp Wolters becoming the only Training grounds for all of the Helicopter Pilots for the war in Vietnam. And when Wolters was decommissioned in 1972, the baker would soon follow.
My great grandmother was the executive housekeeper at the Baker, my great grandaddy helped build it and worked in the kitchen, my great uncle was the auditor. I have several other family members that worked there. I was lucky enough to visit it twice and would love to go back.
They could have fixed the roof years ago. Too late now. Its all gone. The large rugs in the lobby would have been a fortune if they would have pulled them out when the video was shot. They were in good condition. The hotel is just a hunk of cement now. Standing forever...

Through the 80's and 90's, Golf Courses were being built left and right. Many were average, and only a few could be considered great. But it's a whole new world now, and if you're going to build a golf course these days, it had better be something super special or you're not going to get any attention. Enter Arizona's *Wickenburg Ranch:* the most exciting new course that the Southwest has seen in a long time. This is another beautiful video by The NEXTEDGEVIDEO Channel; Todd Moen proudly represents real estate in the area. *The glorious desert setting is the canvas on which your low-handicap game will be painted; the vibrant green of the fairways, and a mountain backdrop fit for the gods, is yours, Fore!*
Me And My Sister Have Visited The Baker Many Times . We Were In Great Hopes That They Would Rebuild The 1929 Hotel, But Never Did . Anyway Unfortunately It Looks Like There Never Gonna Remodel . IT'S So Dissapointing /You Here Rumors Of They Might Rebuild, But I Think They Won't...

Amazing house. The master bathroom with the fireplace and the bath with light show is really a dream experience. I love the limestone wall's and this house really gives you the feeling that you are in a luxurious cathedral. The only thing I didn't like is the location, I'm just not into the dessert views.
