The Ax:son Johnson Centre for the Study of Classical Architecture at the University of Cambridge was established in 2021 as a collaboration between the two constituent Departments of the University’s Faculty of Architecture and History of Art, working with the Faculty of Classics. It has been generously funded for the three-year period 2021-24 by the Axel and Margaret Ax:son Johnson Foundation for Public Benefit of Sweden. The Centre exists to offer a forum for research and the exchange of ideas concerning all aspects of the classical architectural tradition, across time and place, and to provide a Summer School for students interested in learning about classical architectural practice. The Centre is housed, and holds many of its activities, at the Neo-classical Downing College, Cambridge.

It would've be great if the architects documented the building process😢. The camera was invented in 1816 so why no construction photos of these marvels from the ground up?

If you would like to know why the Parthenon has 8 columns, or what the Triglyphs are and why the entasis is a third of the way up a column, please check out the videos on my channel, classical architecture is far more than copy and paste which is what the classicist are doing. It can be applied to modern architecture in just the same way.

Dr Frank Salmon! Is that you? My professor at University Of Manchester in the mid 1990's who's lectures were both sublime and legendary... I wrote furiously during your lectures...and still remember them fondly... You were a legend! (amongst us students)

20:13 - very important words. Maybe put not in the most correct way but - yes - you have to have the preemtiveness and know the evolution of some field of knowledge, which has been achieved for thousands of years
