British traditional music (mostly) played on a 30-button C/G Anglo concertina made by the late Harold Herrington, and more recently a Wolverton 30-button C/G Anglo concertina made by Jake Middleton-Metcalfe, plus some tunes played on a rare Jeffries Duet concertina made by Charles Jeffries about 100 years ago.
For many years I thought I needed an expensive 30+ button concertina to be able to play the tunes I enjoyed on recordings by John Watcham, John Kirkpatrick, Bertram Levy and many others. None of the tutors out there were any good or of any use for playing tunes like this. Then one day on a whim I decided to see if I could transcribe one of the tunes and realized it fit perfectly on a 30-button Anglo, and, sounded 99% as good on a lower-priced instrument with accordion reeds. I've been enjoying playing ever since and hope these meagre videos inspire others to play too.
Includes playlists of tunes from several Rollston Press concertina books by Gary Coover.
