bro 2/3 year old don't be so mean to the crow, ive seen it add stones to a water vessel to raise the water level, some 10 years olds might struggle with that XD
I have seen smart crows in my neighborhood. They collect walnuts and hazelnuts from nearby trees and bring them to a traffic light crossing. When the light is red, they put the nuts down at the crossing and wait on the next tree or traffic light pole. When the lights turn green, the cars drive over them and eventually crack open the nuts. In the next red phase, the crows then pick up the delicious nuts...
having owned a pet crow for 21 years, I can confirm they are highly intelligent and can solve puzzles. Plus my crow saved our families lives once waking us up in the middle of the night with the warning caw. Thinking an intruder was in the house, I headed downstairs, smelled natural gas. Fire department said had the crow not done that, we'd all be dead.
I never liked comparing the intelligence of an animal to that of a child - clearly, crows have capabilities beyond that of a toddler. I understand that it is supposed to help us understand their intelligence, but it's never accurate. Other factors unique to animals are not accounted for in this comparison, so I find it falls flat.
I was friends with a talking crow once. Spend all day hanging out and talking trash, giving him little snacks. He came back the next day when I was running on the treadmill, sat on the console and left me a large bum plumb... I was not impressed. Chaced him out the window and haven't seen him since
I think they're smarter than a 2 or 3 year old. I feed our local crow family and observe their behaviours, social structures, emotions, etc. They're smart!
One situation i will never forget was that once a crow tried to kill a squirrel that lived on a tree next to my classrooms Window and the whole class where team squirrel because we loved the squirrels and they won the next day 20 crows came
I remember some scientist taught crows to do this in the city. They would crab empty cans and full cans out the hands of pedestrians. The plan back fired.
