Thanks for listening! We were attempting to use German Latin, since Mendelssohn is a German composer and his sacred choral works are often performed with that form of Latin pronunciation. The 'ci' is pronounced as "tsi" in this context.
Hi Paul! This is glorious! I love listening to all male choirs. Something about all that power that is awesome. I always enjoy listening to your offerings.Thank you to you and your students. Jan Fannon
Beautiful arrangement...wonderful harmonies! These is something so wonderful about hearing an all male a cappella chorus sing...so pleasing. Thank you!
Thank you for your feedback. This arrangement was written for the 2022 Barbershop Festival held at Brigham Young University-Idaho, and is meant to reflect the sounds and styles used by some Barbershop choruses currently.
Of all the videos you put out from that semester, I think this one came out the best. I personally loved performing precious savior, dear redeemer and beati mortui more, but this piece had a nigh perfect performance.
It's a combination of our own making -- the first, traditional English verse was our own "invention" -- half the choir held the tonic pitch while the other half sang the verse; the second half is a published version arranged by William Heyne and published by Augsburg Fortress Press. Glad you liked it!
@@BYUIdahoMensChorus thank you! I’d like to perform this piece with a men’s group I am with, but I can’t seem to find the William Heyne arrangement on the Augsburg Fortress website.
