I spent my time watchin' the spaces that had grown between us. And I cut my mind on second best or the scars that come with the greenness. And I gave my eyes to the boredom, still the seabed wouldn't let me in, And I try my best to embrace the darkness in which I swim. Now walkin' back down this mountain With the strength of a turnin' tide Oh the wind's so soft on my skin, The sun so hot upon my side. Oh lookin' out at this happiness, I search for between the sheets. Oh feelin' blind to realize, All I was searchin' for was me. All I was searchin' for was me. Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No, no, no, no. Keep your mind set, keep your hair long. Oh my my darlin' Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No no no no, Keep your mind set in your ways, Keep your heart strong. And I saw a friend of mine the other day, And he told me that my eyes were gleamin'. Oh I said I'd been away, and he knew, Oh he knew the depths I was meanin'. And it felt so good to see his face, All the comfort invested in my soul. Oh to feel the warmth of his smile, When he said, "I'm happy to have you home." I'm happy to have you home. Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No, no, no, no. Keep your mind set, keep your hair long. Oh my my darlin', Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No no no no, Keep your mind set in your ways, Oh, keep your heart strong. 'Cause I'll always remember you the same. Oh eyes like wild flowers oh with your demons of change. May you find happiness there, May all your hopes all turn out right. Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. Oh, no, no, no, no. Keep your mind set, keep your hair long. Oh my my darlin', Keep your head up, keep your heart strong. No no no no, Keep your mind set in your ways, Keep your heart strong. 'Cause I'll always remember you the same. Oh eyes like wild flowers within demons of change.
To think of these current, younger generation(s), they seem so lost and confused, but then you realize that they only knew "auto-tuned corporate-pop insert pretty-girl" music while they were growing up and you realize just how thankful you are to have grown up in the 90’s.
Listen I'm all for artist exploration and their songs but for God's sakes can this guy just for once in his life perform the song as it is on the album. Just once, Literally just once. As a matter of fact I would settle for him just doing any of his songs that He's ever created and performing whichever one that he so chooses as it is on the album just once. I'm willing to settle for that
His endless vocal improvisation tarnishes the actual melody. I love his voice, and it's HIS song and has the right to change the melody -- but good lord it doesn't resemble the studio version. Thing is, it's not better.
Damn this song is (deep ? ) It's filled with intense emotion . Both himself and himself as the character and Anna the main person of interest . Yes I agree it's a beautiful song .
As per usual they fuck the entire song up live and totally alter it... urgh... Saw them once live by mistake, will never make that mistake again. Just to stick to their recordings.
man when you get past this and open up to the fact that every single time they play it's a different emotional take on the song... you'll recognize the beauty in every single performance. he's pouring his heart out in this. it's incredible. the album version will always be there too.
Wow, I am not sure what is more nostalgic? The music? Those crazy baggy pants? Or mpg formats! Or as "Bowling For Soup" Said: _"Music still on MTV?"_ Or how he made mustaches like that look cool, which people now-a-days are having a really hard time with. On a serious note, this is one of the best vocal _"Show of"_ performances I've heard in a long time. He rarely bangs out all of the notes in live shows because...idk why because he obviously can. It's kinda funny because I've heard so many people try to sound like him, or just sing the songs in a similar style and they simply can't. Like the way he says _"maybe"_ at 3:28 or _"I am not worried"_ at 3:36-3:38. Those notes with that tone are just so difficult to emulate. Good grief, it's like the emotion just overflows from him, into the speakers like a tidal wave before crashing like a gentle ripple. Man he nails it.
