Good video, very accurate. Got lucky, caught covid twice during BMT, and was only there 6 weeks. Barely passed my IPPT and missed almost all SOCs and route march, though I made it to the outfield. For those who are aiming for OCS, no worries because I somehow ended up there. Keep pushing! ORD Lo!
Tbh you will forget about your BMT buddies and not give a sheet about them once you move to unit. Unit's where your lifelong NS buddies will be. 13 years since NS and still going strong.
I remember talking to the Pulau Tekong CO when my son went in for his BMT. Was complaining to him why the training now was so soft? His reply was that they couldn't do it realistically any more because if they were to 'tekan' them like the old days, their mums and MPs would be jumping on them! So much for snowflake NS.
When you get to reservist, it's very amusing to see all the key appointment holders get ranks that seem impossible to an NSF. For example, Battery/Company Commander become Captain, S3 etc become Major, Battery/Company Sergeant Major become MSG, RSM become Warrant Officer, sergeant can become 1st Sergeant... and they are all reservists, not regulars.

As they say in the SAF, don't mess with the regulars even if you are a 2LT. Depending how foolish the NSF officer wants to be, the kopi talk could go from the OC to CO to Chief XXX officers to Chiefs of the Service to finally the CDF... Only one NSF in the whole history of SAF managed to get away relatively unscathed after a furious letter to all of the above mentioned senior leadership....

Nowadays rank change until I blur in 80 to millennium rec ,pte, and rare pte first class lcp ,corporal 3sg 2sg 1st sg ,staff sg master sg 2ndwarrant 1st warrant,master warrant, senior warrant. Nowadays first class pte sure have and come out out a first class coporal
