Hello I'm Stephen and I travel to interesting and beautiful destinations. Join me on my journey as I walk along coastal regions, seaside towns, tourist attractions and much, much more.
Thank you for your videos. I was born in the cottage hospital (probably gone now)in Burnham on 20 June 1957 (68 years ago to the day that I write this) and I was the first baby delivered by the then new doctor Michael Barry. I left Burnham in 1978 after many happy years. I suppose it has changed and grown a lot since those days but from the other videos I have seen it still seems a decent place for people with children to live. I especially miss the evenings of the equinox with the waves breaking over the esplanade and then spending a few pennies on the pier.
As you travel along the coast you have Burnham on sea, then Berrow and then Brean and then Weston Super Mere. Brean is well known for the hill like rock formation that blocks the beach and goes out into the sea. It has the remains of a Roman fort and also a second world war fort. When I lived near there (45 years ago) you could get your car onto the beach when the tide was out and drive about 10 miles up and down. Great for learners but not so good if you got stuck in the mud and the tide came in. On the side of the "Down" or hill was a huge wall of sand that we used to dig in and make caves.
Great Video. Really enjoyed this. Ive a;so done a Brean Down video but i think yours is much better than mine. The drone shots were good & showed what can't be seen from the ground. I had no idea there was a giant arrow there. Good archive pics & video.
@@walkingwithstephen Hi Stephen. I filmed this with my Osmo Pocket 3. The closeups were from my Samsung phone & the footage from 1993 was a camcorder but I can't remember what make. 👍👍😊😊
They will pull your phone out chuck it on the floor next to your van then bang loudly on your van. So I shouted pedo at him amongst the rest and pulled a cross uot and. Bible at him and asked loudly why your bringing in dirty soft toys for the school the next day, also was asked about the van rudely that's how I found out there going to fill the church with children so naturally I begun to suspect them as a pedo ring using all access. I called the police and informed the local school's of my suspition, I asked for police presents tomorrow at the church to monitor there operation. After all i camped there with batted breath!
I remember before they built the modern sea wall at Burnham. The waves used to crash up onto the pavement ! It caused a lot of damage. The technology today that allows you to film these fantastic views is amazing. Just think how much it cost in the past when the only option for these shots was a helicopter !
Stunning scenery. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this as it brought back wonderful childhood memories (50 plus years ago of many many family holidays at Brean) ! It's sad to see the wreck disappearing, I have photos of me stood on the keel but it's completely buried now. Great video 👍🏻
Its not Haunted for goodness sake it's just a sales gimmick. Having known people who worked there and people who were locked up in this prison i can confirm that it's NOT Haunted. Don't be conned by this money making scam
Thanks for this! I live in the US now but Summers in Brean are a cherished memory. We stayed at Southfield Farm from 76 to 84. I always remember Allen's Book Shop and Tony's Fish Bar as you first came into Brean. I was homesick today so this video was an absolute treat. All the best.
My hubby just got me the best birthday present EVER! a gift experience voucher for an overnight stay in this prison!! (Hence why I'm watching this video) I am so excited - will be looking at planning it for end of October hopefully!!
Absolutely love this. Fantastic video of Brean. Well work visiting. No wonder lots of people own caravans here and one of the biggest places with the amount of caravan parks. They call it their Happy Place x
Fantastic video of the whole package of the Weston super mare air festival from 2022. Entertainment, fair rides, military displays. Wonderful thank you Stephen.
