Love this and Dr. Finley. He is so deep. Almost all he says resonates so deeply with me as I am sure so many others. What a humble man. He has spent his life talking about Thomas Merton. People have told me I could have written The Shack (I am not a universalist though) but I believe Mr. Finley could have. I am a therapist who has interwoven psychotherapy with Christian Spirituality. I went through the journey of inner healing first then to Our Lady of Holy Cross College then Tulane University Graduate School for Psychotherapy. That was almost 40 years ago.

Jesus doesn’t become the Christ. He is the Christ from all eternity, becoming human from a vantage point that transcends everything, manifest in history two millennia ago, uniting heaven and earth/spirit and matter from the beginning of the Big Bang, all the way to the end of time itself. You can still believe in the Cosmic Christ and not be Nestorian, lol.
Don't split Jesus from the Christ (from John Crowder) Any new pop theology that splits “Jesus” from “the Christ” is just rehashed Nestorianism that depersonalizes both God and you. As a Christological dualism, it improperly splits the divinity and humanity of Christ, thereby severing the hypostatic union … and thus removing your own intrinsic connection to God. This throws salvation and spirituality back upon your own lap, and you end up headlong into the darkness of religion. ”The Christ” is not an impersonal force that the man Jesus merely exemplified or enabled you to follow. Jesus the Christ forever exists as God *become* flesh. The mystery of incarnation is that He is God without reserve and man without reserve: both natures (human and divine) fully existing in one inseparable Person, without mixture or confusion of those natures. Jesus Christ is the inviolable glue that binds *your* humanity to God. The Last Adam is the Son of God. He is simultaneously the federal head of all humanity and the second person of the Trinity. He is our very meeting place with God.

At another time in my life, before I knew anything about Spiritual Direction, I participated in a 6 week Dream Course facilitated by a graduate student completing her thesis on Dreams and Spiritual Healing! I am excited to be taking this course now as a Spiritual Director!
Very Eastern and anti-Christian. Pantheistic. Without truth a contemplative or mystical experience can be evil and form evil in our lives. Jesus said that no one can come to God except through Him. We are not divine, and the earth and creation are not divine.
So soft spoken, I feel this peace when I hear him talk, like I understand what he is talking about, but I really don’t, hard to explain, like there is a connection. When I contemplate I go real deep in to my soul, and connections with love. Sorry I hard to explain. All I can say it .. ❤️🔥🕊❤️🔥
