Actually, for 27 years, I've been using this ratty par 3 course for practice, and the majority of the time, I just carry an 8 iron as I walk around. Tjis time I was testing a Taylormade P770 A Wedge that I'm planning on selling and wanted to make vids of it in action. Got this gem of a "putt" as a result 😄
I went to tap in a putt that half of the ball was over the hole. I lost my balance and my putter hit the ground and jumped over top of the ball. I had a 0.3 handicap at the time.
These greens are tricky to make putts drop, for sure. Would you believe I've gone 8 under thru 9 holes with 8 iron only as a 4 ball solo scramble? I don't think I had that round recorded, but I have some 6 under and 7 under for 9 hole rounds on my channel if you care to check it out 👍
Just gotta laugh at them and move on right? 😄 the only rime it really starts to bother me is when I'm trying to beat a previous record. I had one of those 18" missed putts to ruin a record one time, I can never forget that 🤭
I'm leaning that way myself. For a one club challenge on a normal size course I love a 7 iron, but I've spent so much time on the little par 3 course with 8 iron only that I've developed a DEEP love for the 8 iron 😄
I'd like to do a detailed long form video, laying it out, what benefits I've seen.

Dude that made my day! Awesome camera work by Ben! It figures your ball would settle in right in front of an ant hill😂 " I love getting fours and par threes" lol. I'm actually surprised you did as well as you did with those gnarly greens.
Man, that's such a dope club. I've been searching ebay for a Titleist DCI 1 iron for a bit now. I think that's the very last model that has regular 1 irons in Titleist's club history because every modern 1 iron is a driving iron. I haven't found one in decent condition yet, but i check all the time for anything new that pops up
Not intentionally, and I think it only looks like that due to camera angle. My setup is actually slightly open, with the left foot slightly back which helps me turn thru impact better. That is something I've always done, for the past 27 years. I should play around with that though, since I do need a bit more turn to complete the backswing. Right now I'm not reaching a full turn going back.
@MB.19 I was playing to scratch last full season, but due to injury haven't played much as of late. Right now I'd estimate you're SPOT ON at 9, but maybe I'd still be lower single digits. After recent PT I'm training a slightly different swing and didn't seem to lose any distance or accuracy so I'll put it to the test on course soon 👊😀👍 thanks for the guess!!
Distance is approximately 175 yards, one end of this field to the other end 👍 I'm just inside the fence at one end, and balls landing just inside the other end, approximately 170 yards.
Ugh, sorry to hear that! Changing out the belt and components is not an overly complicated job, and should run between 4 and 5 hrs all in. The issue will be whether the valves got bent, or other damage resulted. I had a spare belt (old one) so I was able to get the engine in time and perform a compression test, otherwise using a scope, going in thru the sparkplug holes you MAY BE ABLE TO see the valves well enough to determine if they are going to have problems seating.
And on a positive note- mine had bent half the valves so I needed to pull both heads, rebuild with new valves and seals, put back together with fresh head gaskets and it ran amazingly good! If you can do the work yourself it's worthwhile, if you have to pay a mechanic it may not be. It is a costly repair, but done well it gives opportunity for some fresh components and great running afterwards 😀
@@SilverloafGolf i just bouht the car and the timing belt was done by an other guy, soo i trust him, im a mecanic and since i have the car i was thinging on this problem...and i only 5000km done with the belt...soo , now i will try to put new belt and see if runs...if not i will take the engine out and doo evertything.. thanks
It's a pretty awesome club! I had found this one in the woods at my local course over 20 years ago. Apparently someone didn't like it too much way back then 😄 but I started using it way back then as my fairway finder.
👊😃👍Thank you, It felt good & no pain! Only managed 10 swings or so in the time window I had, but it was a good short pracrice session. Might try a 9 hole round soon..... might 😄
Totally real. Both parts of the video really happened..... just at different times, places and by different people 😄 it was a fantastic 4 iron stinger sending that nasty Nitro ball back into the woods at least 😅👍
Hogan and Snead hit their 7 irons about 145. Today’s 7 iron is yesteryears 5 iron. It’s the same game but played with different equipment under different conditions.
Tiger's 7 iron is still a pretty traditional 36° of loft, unlike the trend of most 7 irons in modern sets being that 5 iron equivalent of 28-30° (or more in some sets!). Some of my older sets from Hogan and Snead era are not far off from Tiger's lofts, but definitely a far cry weaker lofted than most modern sets, for sure.
