I also believe that fumbling mistake on the goal line by Stephens and Corr not killing the ball and allowing Ollie Dempsey a goal started a bit of a momentum shift for Geelong. We were on top for most of that first quarter and had we been able to find another way to kick another couple of goals in that first term denying Geelong a bit on the scoreboard things might have been closer then the end result of a 40 point loss . The end of the third term we allowed Geelong to kick a few goals in junk time, through lapse of concentration & some silly mistakes . Next week against the Tigers is 50/50
... and we packed up & went home, again, in the last quarter. It's a long season for young lads, without many pre-seasons under the belt. Give 'em time.
@@michaels3969 gosh, a great question! I think if he's able to turn himself into a key forward, he's most valuable in that position. But that remains to be seen!
I agree that we were a chance to beat Carlton. In 12 months time the close losses we had to Melbourne, Collingwood, The Bulldogs,Carlton will turn into wins. Sheezel in my opinion can win a Brownlow in a couple years from now
We still need to wait and see what we look like with Griffin Logue back and a few games under his belt. Kallan Dawson has earnt his spot in defence, the question is, will we be able to afford putting Comben in at CHF? Hope Will Phillips keeps his spot when the warlord returns. Dylan Stephens out for Wardlaw, Pink out for Logue (if Griff is ready). Apparently Clarko opened up to the team about his personal struggles during the bye. I wonder what kind of mental cleansing that might have helped with the team. They had all been struggling I reckon because of so many lossses, I think Clarko talking about his own struggles might have lightened the load on the lads. There has been such a huge improvement since the bye, I cannot but think some of it was mental attitude.
@@billbaggins1688 yeah I think the Logue question is more interesting in terms of next year. I think Chom has to stay back for the short- medium term at least, but who knows!
We've gone from 20 goal losses, to 10 goal losses, and now only 3 goals against a seriously good Bulldogs team. If Weightman could hold his footing, even closer. Our defense is keeping opposition scores under 100 points now, it's been a month of much improved performances.
Listened to 'On the couch', last 4 weeks we are no.1 for pressure and no.2 for clearance. Seems our team and specifically our midfield have embraced the furnance and really sharpened up the defensive side of their game. This has really helped our backline settle and not have to deal with 60+ inside 50s every week. Great pod as usual bro!
We are BACK!!!! Suddenly our boys can compete at AFL level again. The balance of talls and smalls seems to be where it needs to be, and the balance of offence and defensive is working.
Teakle is that extra tall that does everything right to support both Larks and Big X in the ruck, as well as the mids, that handball to Zurhaar which fed the chain to LDU to kick that goal from the centre corridor was ELITE.
Nick Daicos with Will Phillips: 11 touches (4 touches in quarter 2) (Will was doing better by the quarter) Nick Daicos without Will Phillips: 18 touches and 2 goals and 2 points
Heart breaker. However can't say I didn't expect it. We are a young team and got scared we were close in the game and we were tired. Still so proud of the improvement, we lose this by 60 a month ago. I think this loss is an overall positive and I couldnt help but walk away happy.
Ask and you shall receive! Wanted more midfield mins for Sympkin and we received. Love how he kicked goals as well.....think Clarko is looking at Sydney's midfield blueprint, wanting multiple goal kicking midfielders. Great review and insight as per usual mate.
Very even contributions across the group. Big X was Huge all night in probably his best ever game. Larkey, Comben, LDU, Powell, Warlord, Fisher, Simpkin, Sheezel, all led the way, with solid contributions all round.
Mmm tough one! He's not been good unfortunately, but I have to think a big part of it is his concussion from the preseason. The best position for him is midfield and it seems as though that's not the best position for the team, so it's hard. I would like to see his time be 50/50 forward and mid, 20 odd touches a game and a goal or so. But we haven't got that yet unfortunately.
@NorthPod totally agree mate. I think we are seeing the "downside" of getting to many sole onballers with our building out of the midfield. Id personally have Jy and Powell alternate 50/50. Even Jy and Wardlaw....to manage Georges workload a bit. Time will tell I guess.
The whole watch/listen for freedom of speech nazis with Clarko is an absolute joke and the only people pushing it is 1% of the shills that work for the sporting industrial complex ie John Ralph.
I too dont buy into that North are a young team as they have bottomed out for the last 4-5 years. We need Football people to run the club not supporters like Sonja Hood and Jennifer Watt . Alistair Clarkson will not be North's next premiership coach and when his contract runs out North should woo John Longmire as the next coach as he won't coach the Swans forever. Longmire also has a good record for getting inexperienced teams more competitive and rise up the ladder quickly
Another thing that is becoming a worrying and frustrating trend is Red Time goals. Gave port two in the last 90 seconds of the first qtr and one in the last 60 seconds of the second qtr. We don't do that and we are only down by 2 points at half time instead of 20. Two early goals in the third, blows out to 5 goals and heads drop 😫
whats annoying is that we actually had a very good game by this year's standards While they had five consecutive goals that is the least amount of consecutive goals a team has given us this year Xerri played very good Corr and Comben played well LDU's best game this year in my opinion Will Dawson was fine especially for his age. Defenders take time usually, a lot of time, but he played close to an AFL standard. A top four that we just versed by the way We are improving very slowly, but we are improving. This game didn't have the Hawthorn atmosphere of getting worse it had the "it's getting better atmosphere" But I still think that a 40 point or more loss is unacceptable so we must keep our standards above this.
Hello. I would buy you a coffee but you probably should not drink more coffee since you already have a lot of coffee already. I don't like coffee. Maybe you like coffee. Coffee sounds weird now. I actually don't know what you are talking about because I picked a random video to comment on. See if you can guess who I am. Coffee. More coffee. Also by the way four dollars for a coffee? Must be very nice coffee.
