Of the 600,000 solders that died in the Civil War, 60% were UNION Soldiers & only 40% were Confederates. The Union OUTNUMBERED the Confederacy on the battlefield almost 2.5 to 1. The first two years of the War, the Union basically got their asses handed to them. The last two years the Union did better, but got tired of fighting. So, since they couldn't beat the Confederacy on the battlefield, they decided to cheat by having General Sherman march through Georgia and start killing innocent Southerners.
