Fantastic video and even better detailed information.. Hiked this back in Aug 2015, up to Scouts landing, then as far as touching the Chains, then turned around.Fear of height kick in here..Too bad missed other view turning left, going up and looking down at Angels landing did not know about it. Took some spectacular photos of the trail got last picture at top of Scouts landing, where chains began when battery died in camera and no extra one.Bummer if ever of all places...Thank God I got the last photo on top..

I hiked this trail with two friends on 6-24-24. The trailhead is quite overgrown and muddy. We initially missed the turn because the willows are hanging so low at the opening, we didn’t realize this was the trail. When you bend to look under the willows and up the trail, there are branches in the mud and we assumed they were markers not to go that way. The gate in your photo is also a bit more overgrown. All of these things contributed to our confusion. Once on the trail, we had no problems.

Watching your video, it appears that it's not too crazy/scary if one has fear of heights. Most of the trail looks pretty wide, which would help calm my nerves. It certainly does look beautiful up there.

I did enjoy this hike although towards the end when I made the right on mesa trail, I probably walked along the wrong trail because I got lost. I ended up walking along the surface streets on Warner Ave. back to the parking lot but still a good hike.

My landlord put a mobile home behind mine and he put a little road beside me so our neighbors could go in and out ! And when Google map people came in and updated google maps they gave my street address to them that lives behind me now! I get mail from my mailbox but Fedx doesn’t deliver to me all the time! They set my packages on my neighbors porch sometimes! Any ideal how to fix my address back😂

I have Sawyer, but use Katadyn Befree. You shake the Befree to clean it, so no syringe like with Sawyer. Befree filter have compatible thread with HydraPak Seeker bladders.

I used the Katadyn Befree for year, good filter but I don't like that it gets floppy as you empty it. Found the hard Smartwater bottles easier for me to get in and out of pack.

Topo Pursuit 2 note: The tread nubs on the Pursuit 2 are about 4.6mm tall while the Lone Peak 8 are 3.6mm tall, hence the Pursuits are 27% taller than the Lone Peaks....hence one reason they last longer. Hope this is useful.

At a SAR class given at REI, the SAR director suggested to have an pad or air pad in our kit. Often SAR get evening notification of missing hiker and that an overnight stay (in the wilderness) is typical. Sitting or cold / hard ground is not comfortable. He mentioned that the SAR folks staging for the search bring pad/air pad to use while they wait. I bring an air pad on all my hikes.

I've been doing training hikes along the AT in Maryland and Virginia. I am using GaiaGPS premium to do my route planning and then I've been using both Gaia on my Samsung Galaxy 24 Ultra and separately, my Garmin Epix 2 Pro Sapphire to do tracking. I am finding that the data collected from the two are not in concurrence and it impacted me on a planned 22 mile hike this past week. Based on my Gaia route, I had my second stop (first being breakfast) to be at a campsite that was 7.4 miles into my route according to Gaia. Garmin showed me to be over 9 miles by the time I got there. I've also seen wide variances in recorded elevation and speed data. I cut the hike short because of the heat and the mileage variances I was seeing (which I figured was going to impact my hiking time in daylight, figuring with the distance I shaved off I would end my hike around 18 miles. At the end of the hike Gaia showed 18.3 and the epix showed 20.69 miles (One note - I also have an InReach Mini2. I don't pause it at at breaks like I do Gaia and the watch though. The activity from the inReach has 19.4 miles with 4639 ft of climbing elevation. Gaia's track had 2950ft and the watch had 3858 ft.). Creating a sample route in Gaia (that was a 6.24 mile distance according to Gaia) here are the differences between Gaia and Garmin Connect once I imported the gpx file into Connect - Gaia Distance - 6.24 miles Ascent - 1382 Descent - 1618 Garmin Connect Distance - 6.25 Ascent - 1293 Descent - 1495 I feel like the epix is more accurate based on my speed and estimating I'm going between 2-2.5 mph with my full pack. Have you had an opportunity to test them side by side and have you seen similar behavior. Which one should I trust more.....and if Gaia is going to be off on mileage I need to account for that for the trip I am planning doing 100 miles in 5 days along the AT in August.

I would trust the Epix over the phone any day of the week. The phone's location services are a bit of a black box and it's making choices based on whether it thinks you're moving or not. This video might be helpful: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XHTYfSbtqTs.html

Hey man! Just stumbled on ur channel and subscribed! I’m interested in the DJI pocket. I’ve been using my iphone / insta360 go / insta360 x3 I keep wanting more but also don’t wanna take all this gear with me all the time lol. I am also interested in the insta360 flow ( gimbal ). Would you just go with the gimbal since these iphone take amazing videos or have you been satisfied with the DJI Pocket?
@Hikingguy
@Hikingguy День назад
The Pocket is much better in low light than the phone, but if that doesn't matter as much, the phone with a gimbal works great. I use the DJI gimbal with my phone, no problems at all.

Momma was going to teach her cubs what to do with prey. Lucky for him, she didn't know what that can was. I bet the next time she runs across that can, she won't bite it, she will grab the head and yank.

Topo Pursuit 2 tread nubs are about 4.6mm tall while the Lone Peak 8 are about 3.6mm tall. So this Topo is 27% taller than the Altra, hence part of reason the wear longer. My guess is that the Vibram sole compounding is more durable. My daughter just finished up first 500 miles on Lone Peak 8 and needs to get new trail runners as the soles have worn.

This is a very good comparison, AllTrails would have been interesting vs mostly GAIA and a Sunto watch in the mix would have made this incredible. The 67i and a RINO would be the go to with a multi ban watch. Thank you for the effort.

Hi Cris, I'm curious about the Pursuit 2's specifically I've ready some reviews that say the fotbox is narrower than the Pursuit 1's and people have complained about that, have you noticed any issues in that area or found it to be uncomfortable?
@Hikingguy
@Hikingguy 3 дня назад
I have not found that, but I didn't measure and compare with a caliper yet. Overall they're the most comfy shoes I've ever worn. Still wearing them.
