Hello Chistian, great video. I would like make the same to mi mini R50, could you tell me how long the aluminum addition is? And what do you need to change or adapt to make everything work correctly? Thank you
Hello! Great glad you would like too i made it 20mm thick, but you probably could go as little as 10mm I had to make sure all the vacuum lines were connected and cut the handle on the dipstick slightly
You routed the belt wrongly. A belt's face should never touch a pulley -- it needed to be routed up and around it, at least that's what the Toyota workshop manual says.
Using copper grease on wheel nuts is not advised as it can cause a hydraulic action and loosen the nuts. Here is an exert from copper grease users guide... Is it OK to put copper grease on wheel nuts? Just use a wire brush on your bolts and clean out the threads in the hub. The reason why people say no, is because the grease can act as a hydraulic between the threads and cause them to undo, and give false torque readings.8 Sept 2014
Hi mate. I’m planning on doing this to mine. But I have a question? The back hose that’s hanging next to the throttle body, whereabouts did connect that to? Cheers
Did this on mine. Tbh ur better off running the stock intake, u have no low end power, acceleration is shockingly bad (almost like it was a 1L) and it has a massive flat spot between 3k and 5k rpm where I can’t accelerate. Idk if I did something wrong but it also idled like a dog😂
I done the same thing to my R50. But i did a much nicer job. Even machined and tapped the intake manifold so it could take the vacuum lines properly. I also used an R53 throttle body .. Shame i cant post a photo.
Salut Jolie adaptateur tu peux m'envoyer 1 SAIT bien passé, ell6 donne mieux le métal et plus Jolie merci de nous appelons à prendre soin de nôtre mini . A bientôt jatten votre raisons amitié greg
Cheers for this, I think I'll be replacing my 02's R50 OEM exhaust now. Any problems with the post/pre cat sensors doing this? 99% sure my engine light coming on is due to holes I can feel air from and the silencer wadding disintegrating.
Hi Chris. Good video! I’ve got a power fold mirror that’s working but doesn’t stop in the top fold position, it just keeps going round! Any ideas? Fixable?
What type of paint would you recommend for the black plastic trims if only able to sand by hand without removal? I have an R50 with R51/52 upgrades but it has both some scratching and also dried body paint on the arches - not looking for a perfect result exactly, just planning to sand and respray in situ so I haven't got to fit and buy all the clips again. Would a matte or silk black plastic spray work over primer or do I need the factory paint?
You can use what ever paint you like but I would definitely recommend getting a plastic specific primer, Autotek spray cans are a good price and a professional quality
Just a question on the vacuum lines. Where did you run your brake booster line? Also what did you do with the other crankcase line that you broke? Thanks
As the spark plugs are fitted with a crush washer it’s important to torque them to spec. If the plug becomes loose in the cylinder head it’s oscillation in the spark plug hole slowly wears away at the threads and the plug fires out. It’s quite common with aluminium cylinder heads.
Good to see another R50 lover. I also have a R50 (bought it new in 2005) and love it more with each year. Recently also upgraded to LED lights... man, it was a bit of a fiddle getting the capacitors sorted before everything worked properly! I used LED bulbs in the OEM housings for the number plate, and just added a bit of clear silicone to seal them better. Keep up the good videos!
