I was never to much into CKY, just wasn't exactly my cup of tea but I had so much respect for their music because it was so unique. I'm sure there's examples but I myself still haven't heard a band that sounds like they did in the early years. I've always liked acoustic music & lighter rock, the song 'close yet far' is still to this day on every playlist I make, beautiful song. Growing up a skateboarder in the early 2000's, CKY holds a special place in my heart and I do listen to them from time to time.
I’ve always imagined or thought of a what if? For Cliff. What if? They’d been told beforehand or the crew found out beforehand that the roads were too dangerous to drive on and would tell the band they would need to post-pone the tour until the roads were safer to drive on and that the weather is clear. Maybe Cliff would possibly still be alive today.
I saw Jason @ OzzFest 2000 with Ozzy. He had just left Metallica months before i think. But he did a good job with Ozzy. But having been in a band for 25 years myself. The way Jason was treated, you cant keep that going. That leaves one person out of the mix (no pun intended). Everyone has to be happy with what were doing. If not, bad things happen and animosity starts. Not cool. Metallica did their best to treat Jason like shit. I dont get it. I have NO idea how he put up with that shit for so long. F***K that.
I saw Metallica on the master of puppets tour in March of 86. they opened for Ozzy. Jason had some huge shoes to fill and he pulled it off in a crucial time for the band. They owe him greatly IMO.
I think Kyuss had a huge influence on the sound of Load and Reload. I've come to like Load but not a huge fan of Reload, Although I do like Unforgiven II. I like the Garage Inc. album too.
Such an awesome video! All of your knowledge of the band and song history, personal stories about some of the tracks, and super polished editing and sound mixing made this a super engaging watch all the way through! Can't wait to show this to my little brother who got me into CKY.
I love Load and ReLoad. I agree there’s too much filler on each one, but my playlist with the best from each album is over 90 minutes, so they had a lot of material for more than one album (and this was LONG before streaming!).
