I also had got some hate mail on using my Motorola Mototrbo equipment, but I don't care I just ignore the hating losers. I have a lot of equipment Kenwood Commercial, Icom amateur, and Motorola Mototrbo equipment. This stuff works wonders, unlike the Chinese stuff. I run two of the XPR 4550, one XPR 7550e and now have the XPR 6550 with the radio hack to bring it down to the ham radio frequencies. I use it on both GMRS and Ham digital and Analog. Now have the XPR 5550e in the Van, waiting to get the hand-mic full function. I do have the XPR 3500 but will sell it because I'm not using it.
when tuning the filter for a given frequency, especially if connected to a duplexer, you want to tune it for best s11. If only tuned for s21, there can be a significant mismatch on the receiver port of the duplexer and "detune" the duplexer. You should see no degradation of SINAD with the transmitter on vs. off if everything is working right. In amateur service, and if the site supports it, the quantar will benefit from a GASFET pre amp. I have seen improvement of over 6 dB from -119 to -125 through the duplexer with this.
@@mr.viewer6988 I don’t think ham radio is dying but it does seem there is an over abundance of “OM’s” that like to put up as many obstructions as possible for the younger generations. One thing I’ve noticed about millennial and xennial hams is they simply don’t give the OM’s the time of day anymore if the rants start. Also, we are now the ones putting repeaters up and maintaining them/climbing towers. It’s real easy to just let those operators fend for themselves if they’re going to have a cancerous attitude toward newer/younger operators.

In the late 80s and early 90s, if you worked W1LD on 160m during contests, that was a collaboration among myself, NV1L, John, WN9T, Steve NQ1F, Mike N1EVH and Grady Moates of Loud & Clean Broadcast Science. We used WILD's 259 ft. tower with a matching network for 160m that Grady had kindly built for us. WILD was a 5kw daytimer. Steve built a bandpass filter for RX and John and Mike deployed a Beverage antenna with a directional switch box. We regularly worked EU and SA on 100 watts. Those were the days.
