I haven't seen her do anything but laugh at other people and called college aged people "really stupid and should be in dorms". Isn't that leading to incarceration? She has an accomplishment, she helped be a deciding vote pushing for higher taxes. That caused our economy to get much worse. I see no good in this person giving any authority. She was never actually "elected" by her own party, but was just placed in the position. That wasn't a democracy style of what the people want, but what "someone" wanted. Everything says Red Flag! 🇨🇳🚩

"Remain calm," he says. We have a political party that has weaponized the government against its political opposition. We have a two-tiered judicial system, while the laws have been creating a civil caste system with the majority at the bottom. And we have millions of undocumented foreigners running loose. Gangs are taking over apartment complexes in Colorado and other states. In California, one gang has been going door to door robbing people. Sheep to the slaughter.

The reason the U.S. required war and blood was because of the Calvinist nature of New England. One only needs to review the history of the Beecher Family to realize this, but there is a lot of material extant for demonstrating this. Radical Christianity, as represented by Lyman Beecher and his hypocritical son, Henry, and the literal forgery of his daughter Harriet, combined with the interests of the Northern industrialists who had come to depend on the high tariffs placed on Southern produce. The fact is that only 3% of Northern citizens were Abolitionists in 1860. But they hated Southerners. it goes back to the fact that Puritans settled in New England while Nobility and folkish Anglicans settled in Virginia and the other Southern states, during the 17th century when the English Civil War was taking place. They barely got along well enough to fight against the British in the Revolutionary War and the New Englandes resented the Virginians almost to our defeat. The Industrial Revolution saw the higher populated North develop quicker than the rural agrarian South. The North's infrastructure was paid for by tariffs on Southern goods. This almost led to secession in 1828 but was avoided by the Great Compromise. The Republican Party was founded as a pro-tariff party, and Lincoln made a speech about his pro-tariff position. The new Morrill Tariff was voted in with him in 1860. When it became clear that no new slave state, which the Beechers directly assisted (violently in Kansas) the South knew that they would never be able to vote down any tariff in Congress, which made them basically servant, milk cow states for the Northern Industrialists through their lawmakers. After Lincoln and the tariff were voted in, the first three Southern states seceded. Lincoln's inaugural address did not argue about slavery but about the need to preserve the Union. His reasons were economic, for without the tariff taxes the North faced financial ruin. He said he would never send troops into Southern states except to collect taxes. After he took office, his first move was to offer the seceded states a chance to rejoin the Union but with the agreement to pay the tariff. The seceded states refused. So he sent a flotilla to Fort Sumter. At the same time, he landed troops in Florida. This caused the remaining states to secede. Lincoln did not make slavery an issue until after 1862, and losing battle after battle to the CSA, as the war made abolitionism more popular. When Lincoln made the Emancipation Proclamation, there were approximately 450,000 slaves under Federal jurisdiction as they were in border states or in conquered regions such as Louisiana. Lincoln was hoping to start slave insurrections inside the Confederacy. Except for increasing runaways slightly, this failed (just as John Brown had failed) as most slaves remained loyal to their homes and white owners. Lincoln never quite knew what to do with the slaves. He proposed repatriating them to Africa, in a kind of enlarged Liberian program, but the money was not there. He offered them to Brazil and other South American countries, but they declined. So he finally settled on the idea that America would become a different place. And it did. Slavery was the underlying, but indirect cause of the Civil War, but as economic and religious pawns.

I appreciate the student's question at 35:30 and get where he's coming from, but a counterargument to this is to embrace fideism. If it's all about faith, then the resolution is to get rid of any evidence so that more "faith" can be had. Essentially, this is a common misunderstanding of the nature of the term "faith", that it should be blind and have no knowledge involved.

The seditious far right extremists have even less power this time. If anything does happen, it will be acts of domestic terrorism. I bet no states would vote to leave the Union and if they did, they'd be bankrupt within years.

Southern perspective: The reason rebel flag still flys is not because of pro-slavery. That part of the war was for the rich elite 1% families.l The real reason for the rebel culture was the gov placed embargo’s on southern trade, cut supply lines, caused mass starvation and famine YEARS before the war began. The 99% common southerner, farmer, veteran, and worker had to watch their family live in extreme poverty and sometimes starve to death. That is the motive of the common folk to take arms against a tyrannical power. Starve and destroy a regions economy long enough and watch the tension unfold into a battle. This part of history isn’t told often in historical documents or government succession papers. It’s passed down from grandparents who live it. People in their late 90s now had grand parents that lived in this time. The gov doesn’t want people to see it’s role through history of tyrannical force on natives, southerners, coal miners, ww1 veterans and more. They want to be seen as the hero. The educated writers account of history were not form the perspective of the poor farmers that couldn’t read/write about their struggle. As far as society the south is a safe place with little to no racism as both black/white people live in harmony. The kids of the civil rights movement are retired now and say that growing up they knew something was wrong with segregation and they didn’t understand why blacks couldn’t be treated as normal people too. But you will still find a mass sentiments of gov distrust between all locals.

Lincoln said in his first inaugural that he would sign an amendment to the Constitution guaranteeing slave rights in perpetuity where it was. To say he was trying to free them from day one is retrospective and incorrect.

Excellent use of provenance: the chain of living memory. As a kid in the 70s and 80s, military-company flags (Union) and ribbons were proudy and reverently displayed behind glass. Captured flags of the rebels were said to have been returned after the war as reconciliation.

Only from Atun-Shei Films' series on the subject did I learn how confederates back-pedaled from "freedom to own slaves" into "states rights" when the war was known to be a loss. The saddest part is the few people I encountered, raised in the south, who mistakenly believed the Civil War was only about states rights. Thankfully, my high school had a few wonderful history teachers that threw together classes focusing on various periods throughout history; not only the Civil War and the following reconstruction era, but also mythology and early civilizations and middle ages. If I hadnt met those teachers, I wouldnt have such a great interest in anthropology and social studies.
