i have a air assist 395 graco with g40 , i have tried the flat tip and its hopeless it blocks faster than i can spray, its new, and i thin the material for ease of spraying, i have no trouble using a 208 green tip ive been in the trade for years and this is my 2nd unit, i keep them spotless , any ideas please ,you are not using the flat tip
Do airless sprayers spray thicker paint better than air assisted airless? I'm spraying Benjamin moore command. I have an anest iwata 17:1 and my tips keep clogging while painting. I have a new gun filter and Ive used 513, 515 and 419 tip... 45 psi on the fluid and 15psi on the air side and i can never get these perfect pattern sprays i see everyone getting on RU-vid. It's very frustrating. I also notice graco seem to spray at a higher pressure than other sprayers. I'm at 45x17=765 psi and your at 1200.
I use a genuine lamb skin roller cover so I don’t get roller splatter and save time not taping and a 5 gallon bucket with a roller screen to easily move my bucket around in small places.
Thanks for all the knowledge! Can you please make a video of the chemical soft wash and prep for the most quick effective way to prep a deck. The staining i know its the prep that I would to see more of
24:00 It's great to have an extra clean room to store the SVT'd doors. Im working in a small bedroom using it as staging area so I SV and T only in the end.
I like to use a 1 gal bucket on an aluminum ladder shelf with a paint hook. Keep both hands free to balance and it allows me to focus completey on the cut. I don't get why you cut n roll each wall like this. Cut everything, roll everything, get out of the room and don't huff paint fumes.
Hi Nick, I am researching historic exterior house painting and found your video informative. I am looking to hire a company in my area (West Michigan) to paint two Queen Anne homes with a matching carriage house that is part of a mid-size museum. Would you be willing to chat with me more about this project? Thanks, Erin
I used to manage Parfecto Pizza at Madden's on Gull Lake. Walleye Dan is HUGE in the fishing world up there :) Nick, I hope you do a similar video on this next retreat. This was Great! :)
For prefinished oak cabinets that are being refinished, I sand it with 150 or 180 to bring the previous coating down fairly flat because on stain/ clear finishes, obviously there’s no pore filling in most situations. After that, I use a coat of PX lacquer primer and wait for it to dry. Any pores left over get a fine roll of BIN shellac primer followed by a sand and then another coat of PX. After all is dried and cured, sand 220, caulk cracks with Dynaflex 230, let dry 3 hrs or longer, 2-3 coats of Kem Aqua. Some may say that caulking is bad with woods that will flex but Dynaflex 230 is the best performing so far and Kem Aqua is a WB lacquer hybrid and has flex characteristics that won’t crack due to the wood expanding and contracting
The distinction between pores and grain is really helpful. I have a hard time communicating the difference to people so they can understand the final result. Also, I should probably take the time to find some spare cabinet doors to paint as samples sometime.
I hired a drywaller to remove wallpaper and not knowing anything about it, did not think it mattered if they sanded the glue without using a glue remover. They did nothing to remove the glue at all. They sanded it into the wall. The walls look horrible and I felt like they should have removed the dry wall and put up new. The wallpaper was over 20 years old. I felt they overcharged and did a very poor job so I hired a second painter, who actually informed me that the other contractor should have removed the glue. That painter came in and put a METAL ONLY STOP RUST on my masterbedroom wall. It's gray and very awful, and making me feel sick. I keep getting taken advantage of and losing more money. This time I stopped payment this time. I am very worried about this primer and believe the drywall needs to be removed now. The walls are an absolute mess now. The man responsible, sent his daughter to do the job with no protection. She inhaled that primer for over four hours in the bedroom with no ventilation.
I hired a painter and he used Stop Rust Metal ONLY gray primer on my walls. I feel sick, and want to know why a painter would use an oil based METAL ONLY primer on white walls. It looks horrible and is very toxic primer. I feel like the drywall is ruined and my bedroom is deadly toxic now. Please help.
All good stuff but really appreciate the point on the tack rags. I never liked that they left a tacky substance on my hands and had a bad feeling about putting that on the wood or primer. Good to know.
Nice vid mate , you look like you've got a great little business set up there . Nice to see the vans nicely organised , i have my van racked out and with pull out drawers etc in the floor , makes so much difference having a tidy van. I'm based in the UK and 90% of my work is on U.S air bases over here 👍
I just tried that primer with fflp 310 and didn’t work. I called my rep and he said that primer requires minimum 19 spray tip. I switched to pro block and it sprayed fine, hopefully it is good as extreme block.
