I’m out here in St.Louis as a tech and we do literally everything from labs to even inserting catheters! I just wanna make sure my nurse is good they already have a million things to do!
I know you already decided because I saw the new episode before I finished this one lol but I would have chosen the $1950 studio 🙈 I cannot, in the life of me, share bathroom with strangers. And I see that you regretted choosing that room 😅
@@SincerelyShannonSubcribe hahaha yeah that hillside literally takes people out! lol but I’m glad you got to see that opening where the waves break and come in. It’s definitely a beautiful beach.
1. Having a home base is soooo essential. 2. I will NEVER work a contract for that system ever again BUT I would work a staff per diem with them. The Q4 float is literally a waste of time. You lose 45 mins every time! 3. Congrats on your other per diems! If it's in LA, I'll be in and out right with you! Play around with Google Flights and book early and you'll be good. 4. We gotta link for real lol. I had an HCA per diem with their company (HT), did the orientation, and never worked a shift lol. Why they sent me a 1 year anniversary badge pin like some glorified employee like whet lmao
After a long day at work home should be your comfort zone and you definitely didn’t seem comfortable at that place 😂the first red flag was the shared bathroom I cannot!
I was thinking that too bc otherwise I don’t get it. But I also think it’s hospital to hospital. I’m out here on another assignment and they take vitals and blood sugars.
I did 2 assignments in California and the things the techs didn’t do was just wild. They kept saying checking glucose is out of their scope of practice. I’m like how about the vitals🤷🏾♀️dafuq
We need more vlogs like this. It’s so relatable and I’m not even in the nursing field. Wanting more money, moving, starting new journeys as an adult, etc.
Thank you so much for these videos, I been watching your content since forever. These cali vlogs have been really helpful because I’m a current traveler on the east coast and I was thinking about applying in cali. I feel like people romanticize cali for nurses but you have given me the real deal inside look of what goes on and I needed that so thank you.
Just graduated nursing school a month ago. I was taught that techs can’t do “assessments” which basically means anything that makes a tech have to assess if a patient is ok/unstable. Ie; first set of vitals on a new admit/transfer, blood glucose levels, first ambulation of a new admit/transfer. . . So basically they can’t do shit without a nurse “assessing” it first😒 in theory. But I worked as a SN tech. To me, my job was to make my nurse shift easier. Period. Vitals, sugars, ambulating, water, linen, peri care, I/o, baths, CHG, weights, grabbing pumps/channels, applying scd, drawing labs, charting, etc. But also was told I’m a great tech due to being in nursing school 🤷🏾♀️)

Girl!! What you said about the techs in California just made me realize why the new CNA at my job from California is having a hard time adjusting to the floor at a hospital in Charlotte. She’s been a CNA for nine years in Cali and nobody can believe it. Can’t get the flow down with on time blood sugars and vitals. Can’t help pull a patient up…what’s really going on???
Ok so I wasn’t tripping. I realized that they have all these unions over here. So part of why they do much is because they fault for it with the union 😩 so if you a CNA anywhere else come to Cali bc you’ll be chillin lol
I tried 2 focus on the money when I was n Cali. The 1st place I stayed n was only 4 blocks away from the facility. It was perfect 2 walk 2 work. I tried 2 suffer theubit, bit couldn't do it anymore. I purchased my own cleaning supplies, linens, etc. The straw that broke the camels 🐫 back 4 me was a couple moved n2 the room next door with a kid. I came home & there was turd stuck n the toilet. I moved out the next day & they kept my money 4 the last 3 weeks. I moved n2 a cottage with my kwn everything 10 minutes away driving. The place was pricey, but my peace of mind was necessary. When I extended, I moved 2 a decent spot n Oakland that was more affordable than the place I moved 2. I can't do nasty. I just can't. It brings down my whole mood & makes me crazy. People don't clean how I clean.
@SincerelyShannonSubcribe Don't feel bad. I felt the same way when I was out there. Ur right about the set ups. It's str8 up trash. 4 what they charge & what u get is crazy. They know travel nurses need housing & don't have many affordable options. I want 2 rent out the extra room n my apt, but I don't want any1 n my place, esp if they r nasty. I'm considering using the Apts upstairs 4 students or travelers. I'm on the fence.
Glad you had a good strike experience! I was in the Bay area all year wish I could have done one! Where you in Santa Clara? I wish you would show us more of your surroundings, would have liked to see the ppl striking on the street, and maybe a few shots of the hospital or unit.
It was my first strike. I wanted to scope out the scene first. I didn’t want be trying to get y’all the inside scoop and while simultaneously making sure I’m good too lol
lol Carribean time is def a thing. Took a solo trip to st marteen. Flight home was delayed 24hrs. They were so chill. I said if being stuck in St marteen for an extra day , hotel and food paid for is my biggest problem, I am blessed. Lol
Money. Although it’s my passion it doesn’t pay. I like nice things, love to move freely and don’t like living check to check. I was able to provide for myself but it wasn’t giving me the lifestyle I desired. So I switched to something else.
Oh we got content content! The way I'm finna sit down and watch this series like its a show or soemthing! I'm tryna get back to Cali for PD but everyone's favorite agency is plaayyyying dragging their feet!
$8,400 is a lot of money. I make 75k a year my check each month as a day nurse is $3,850. Eight hundred and something. If I work some nights it bumps up to 4k a month. But I feel the amount of money I make taking care of myself is not enough to really move like how I wanna move, like how u was saying at the beginning of the video. I gotta wait to save up to make moves I don’t like that.
I used 2 go 2 Sam's Club & Costco 2 get my gas. It was under $5/gal. Cali gas is expensive. I wanted 2 do strikes moving 4ward, but I have 2 get my house straightened out b4 I go far again.
@hadassahlives2060 With this company, they r in house & will terminate u from their agency. This is my 1st time with them. I don't want 2 burn any bridges. I want them 4 per diem jobs when I'm n between assignments. The pay is comparable & I don't have 2 pay 4 housing with this new assignment, or when I pick up with them n the future.
I did the strike with us nursing last fall and it wasn't organized. I think they didn't have the right manpower when it came to the corporate side (payroll, shuttle setup, and etc).
Yes, there was an issue with people getting paid from the strike last fall. It was still daily pay but not everyone got it or the correct amount. I’m glad you had a better experience….the one last fall was a huge one and it was a sh&tshow. My 💰 was fine though. And people do complain a lot. Like, they could be at home getting no money…chill and go with the flow! 😂
When they start playing with your 💰it gets really ugly with me. I don't wanna hear NOTHING about this or that. I did the work you better have my paper. I've noticed while working with some of these agencies not travel ones though, they like to either short change you or just flat out bs you some kind of way. There really shouldn't be no issues. One or two people should be ready as nurses submit their time to process payments.
I’m sorry about the crappy quality of the video-both my cameras are broke but I was gone get this footage to yall by any means necessary lol hope yall enjoy ❤
Love your videos! I'm all caught up and waiting to see what happens next 🎉 Ps. Let any negativity you encounter as a nurse and especially travel nurse slide ride off. As someone who is older and nearing the end of her bedside career, It doesn't even matter. Just keep pressing on. You'll be just fine.❤
