This is a very serious issue but it was NOT approached in a fair way. The assumption was made that the boy was guilty. We act like fake allegations do not happen. Statistically we know they are more common than we would like to admit. From the stories told/presented here it is just as plausible that the all the kids were drunk and that the girl consented and does not remember or is denying that she gave consent (when explicitly asked whether or not she gave consent she said she couldn’t remember and hedged her answer) because she is embarrassed. It also possible that she consented to the first boy and not the second etc. I do realize it is not uncommon for rape victims to forgive certain parts but to hedge your answer on the most important detail and what is the crux of the situation unfortunately puts everything up in the air. It’s is possible that she both consented and was raped. (Consented at first to one boy but not to the second.) It is also possible that she wished to withdraw consent but never made that known to being intoxicated. It’s a horrible situation that we will probably never know the full actual truth.
