This is my latest kite project, Japanese bird kites. This book, " Beauty in the Wind", was written by Shu Goto, published in 1977. It is a book of poetry, craftsmanship and life philosophy. I am currently making the seagull kite, and theconstruction methods I am using, are attempts to build these kites in the traditional method of Japanese papercraft, as I believe the author had intended. I have performed many searches for Japanese bird kites, and have found nothing, I am hoping to perhaps inspire fellow kite makers and enthusiasts to perhaps continue this tradition in craftsmanship. If you are interested in learning more about these kites and my journey, I am happy to share what I know, and have learned, Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much! I have been wanting to build these bird kites for many years, finally found the time, maybe get a test flight in today, weather permitting, thanks again, happy kite flying, Cheers!
Your autogyro kite is really impressive. I'm intrigued that you solved the landing problem with an RC tilting rotor. Can you post a building article on the web so the project can be replicated by others like me who want to build a similar kite. Thanks for posting the terrific videos of the machine flying at the beach.
You'd think it would be easier to just put the camera on the kite line itself, say at the base. Since the line always goes from the kite to the base, if it follows the line... the kite will always be in picture.
Very good project. From what I understand you say, with one servo move the rotor forward and back ?, and with another servo move the rotor to the right and to the left ?. With the autogyro always against the wind, with the first servo, you can raise and lower the autogyro? And with the second servo you can orient the autogyro to the right and to the left ?. Does anyone hold the mooring rope or is that end attached to the ground? Thank you very much for your answers, I am a model airplane, and I had not seen airplanes or autogyros like kites.
+ross thompson Greetings! Thanks for the thumbs up, sorry I haven't responded earlier, I am not much on the social media stuff. This has been a project of mine, long in the making, still got a few mods to do, and I have plans for even bigger and better, this whole job thing cuts into my tinker time. Thanks again!
Thank you very much! I was glad to get some footage, my wife was filming, we had dogs, that wanted to chase things on the beach, that made things a little tough. I will get some more footage in the future. Thanks again!
New at this you tube business, not quite sure how to respond to comments, hope this works. Thanks for watching, and yes, I plan to try a little rudder for my next mod. Maybe make some adjustments on the towpoint as well. I can hand launch and land (without crashing), we just didn't get that on camera, we were at the beach with dogs....oh look theres a squirrel, or a narwhal, anyway, hope to have some more footage. Thanks!
