The thing is i made this exact thing in high-school metal works. It was a man shaped slip of metal balancing on a 'leg'. It also had the weights as well. It would never fall unless shaken hard
Those NASA dudes are pretty smart. They will have known Ingenuity would have to crash someday. They wouldn't have made it for only four hops and then shut down. If it had made only 4 hops, why would have already had another mission scheduled for it. NASA launches multitasking robots.
But the ball coming on the other side would not have the exact same velocity because the balls are not perfectly round there is tension in the sting and air resistance that doesn't let that happen
