The coolest generation of XJ if you ask me. I love the story how this car came to be. Jaguar specifically designed the XJ40 engine bay to not fit the Rover V8. This was because Jaguar thought that British Leyland would have made them use this engine. Arrogant as they were, Jaguar would not accept a rejected Buick designed V8, they wanted to design their own inline 6. This resulted in the v12 also not fitting in the XJ40, so they kept the entire production line of the Series 3 in place and kept selling the old model from 1986 until 1992.Then they decided to redesign the XJ40 engine bay to fit the V12 for less than 2 years of production. They ended up using the XJ40 body for the X300 and x308, so the investment did not go to waste. They needed it for the v12 and v8 engines of those anyways. Still it's a very interesting story I think.
These cars starting on electric motors to gain speed would be an amazing add on if they keep the old engines too. Like how hyper front wheels are like an extra 500 HP+ because of electric to the front
ein absolut blöder Sound ! Schade daß man den wirklichen Sound vom 6 Zyl. nicht hört. an absolutely stupid sound! It's a shame that you can't hear the real sound of the 6 cyl. doesn't hear.
