Shells dissolving in vinegar, acetic acid, do not tell us what happens when the pH is changed by CO2. Show us an experiment involving changing the CO2 concentration. Don't use acetic acid or hydrochloric acid. This is one of the many criticisms of the theory of ocean acidification by skeptic of climate change, that you are using the wrong acid. Take a tank of compressed carbon dioxide and let the gas bubble through the water. Thats how you should be adjusting your pH. Do your experiment right.
