We are a couple from Sydney who have packed up and have moved into our Toyota to travel around Australia to some of the most remote and beautiful places. Documenting our travels as we go (and improve our filmography skills).
All,great information, we are in the process of setting our Prado up.. one thing that stood out to me and I do relize this is 3 years ago.. but you had a gas bottle inside.. a big no no from my knowledge? The clothes draws etc we might p8nch those ideas.. cheers
I was looking at the max but it’s going to be too heavy for my fit out. For the extra $300 then what’s on the market I think this is a good price. Especially no poles needed. I’ve returned two Darche 270’ already because of leaking. I’m sold 👍🏼
Good video mate, you've probably bought a new one by now, but, maybe some of that metal epoxy putty from supa cheap would fix the crack and you could reuse the old girl as a spare.
Hello, I am from Belgium. Wonderful film. We are going to Australia again in July/August 2024. Now we definitely want to visit Limmen NP and hopefully it will work with a Toyota Hilux with a small slide on campervan. Hopefully the 4x4 roads are ok and the rivers can also be crossed well, without getting stuck. Because there will be few visitors.👍👍👍
Go right through the crossing 🤣 The drivers right is not the same as your right. Thats why you say turn driver or passenger instead. That’s the same for both driver and spotter.
- liquid gasket maker (Loctitw518 or something similar (oil resistant) can replace weathered, broken or missing gaskets on reassembly. a good selection of spare o-rings can be handy sometimes too. - lots of greasy schmoo is always better.. lol.. (was the housing failure too much torque or too long a bolt ?? - I suppose "enough torque", just enough bolt and some Loctite 243 works a charm (NB, reduce torque "effort" when running in fully "lubricated" bolts.). - now you have all the spareparts you may never need - nicely cleaned, lubed and placed into long term storage - ie fresh assembly.. (NB, it may be 25-50% reduction in torque - click - for the same clamping force - liquid threadlocker is a heavy-ish lube.)
How can I get a price list I love that 270 do you have a 2023 version and how much it cost could you send me a link or something I have a Ford F-150 I am going to put a rack system on it I have a camper top
You mentioned the seat height being good for dining, but next to your actual dining table, it looks like you'd be sitting at a really low position. What's your take on that?
We’ve had ours for over a year and love, still can’t work out how you guys pull the top down internally, ours is so hard! Any tips? We end up having to do the back first and then climb ontop of the roof to sit on the top to close it down.
Hi Katie, great to hear you guys still love your tent. Odd that yours is so hard internally, does it have the two handles? I just pulled down on those and it came down easily. Perhaps the gas struts have a higher rating so stiffer to pull down?
Yeah I think ours are on the wrong way around 😂🤦♀️ we’ve been camping for over a year having to sit on the top to close it lol, definitely getting this changed asap
Nice review. Considering purchasing one myself, however unsure about total weight on the roof. Did you have any issues? (tent + roof platform + persons).
I sadly think they have put up bollards on the track to stop people going through the main cut rock according to my mate up in Cairns so might be worth looking into that. A&J
We haven’t heard of any others that have cracked so it could be vehicle specific. We think it is due to how the awning was mounted and believe they no longer mount awnings that way.
On the topic of longer hikes, one thing to point out is that when you are living in a vehicle you are way more reluctant to leave your dwelling behind for the night.
Oh no! Fern pool is the best swimming spot in Karijini IMO. The little fishies mostly hang by the ladder so you’re find once you get past it. Loving your vids though 👍 bringing back the fab memories.
A death adder is a very short snake, that can kill you in a very short time. However they are not aggressive, if you leave them alone , they will leave you alone. Folk lore says you can walk right up and touch it, but try removing your hand without getting bitten, hmm no thanks. Can be mistaken for a lizard . Two types a beige / brown stripes and a black one . I almost stepped on a black one, just layed there looking at me.
