I don't quite understand the meaning of the word "Lowdown". Does that word means in the song "to be vulgar" "to act happy-go-lucky" or rather "to be a sensation", "to be something new"? Thank you.

Be sure to track down her elsewhere on youtube. Love Parade should be seen in entirety (available). I recently read her autobiography, I'll Cry Tomorrow (1954) Some of it was so horrible I'm sorry I read those parts -- basically men would beat her up. Still, in her appearance on I've got a Secret (youtube) she appeared upbeat, probably because her memoir was selling well. I couldn't sit through the film of it (1955) because I didn't care for an impression of her, however skillfully acted by Susan Hayward. Her memoir talked about her marriage to a NYC judge who my father, who worked in the court, knew. Of course I was too young to care about that. I know of no cure for being in love with a person no longer with us.
