I do mostly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu which is mainly wrestling and grappling and I'm going to learn how to do Muay Thai for striking so that way all of my bases are covered
Train how you fight is the most valuable maxim. If the move doesn't work against a resisting opponent then it doesn't work. All of the successful martial arts share common elements. They spar often and get their practitioners conditioned for fighting. Then they refine their techniques over time based on how the fights are turning out.
this is very true, that's why I believe Jackie Chan can take anybody if there's no rule in his 30's and early 40's since he's very used to move fast in any direction in an instant, he's so agile, tough body, high endurance and has a lot of stamina, pain was his best friend at that time
@@CombatSelfDefense No, it isn't. A bunch of keys stabilizes the fist. The hit is harder and the risk of an injury at the hand is reduced. But of course you have to know how to hit - but that's the same with brass knuckles.
This is DEADLY WEAPON!!! This is not TOOL!!! This "tool" can couse only troubles because you gonna break someones skull , arm etc. This "tool" is illegal in every single state in Europa !!! Tool to be illegal... just dont fit together!!! Knife and that "tool" are in category of COLD WEAPON!!! WEAPON !!!! NOT TOOL !!! Personaly I hate such "tools" because only ONE hit can kill other person!!! I understand the value of human life and I will use anything to safe life , mine ,yours ... of any victim!! But it is often that attacker become victim ... and that is so wrong!!! Rather take something like nail scissors ... they are so powerfull tool ! And put them between 2 fingers ... voila ! Best self defence tool ... and you can have them without risk to be categorized as cold weapon ! Wish to you and to all people with good heart all best 🫶
@@CombatSelfDefense Please dont take that as offence 🙏 It is just opinion ... as you said at the end , it is illegal in most countrys ! But it is hell of a defence "thing" ! Be blessed and it is good to talk about such things 👍
@@CombatSelfDefense Care to know who else does buddy? People like Tiago Guma and Leandro Lo ... who got shot to death because of their wilful ignorance, obnoxious ego and false sense of security all stemming from bjj and mma which earned them a 1 way ticket into an early grave. I'm just trying to help people out not to make that same mistake, you're doing the opposite so what other option do you give me friend? Only difference between you and them is you are lucky enough so far to avoid the wrong people who don't give a crap about mma/bjj hype and only know violence, unlike them you still have the opportunity to turn your life around and stick to tma instead. Avoiding mma and bjj saved my life.
This is such a false equivalency. I’ve equally avoided aikido, and I’m still alive. And who exactly are you “helping,” by commenting on videos? I can guarantee you nobody is reading your comments but me since I get the alerts and find you funny. If you really want to make a difference, start your own channel and post your own content.
@@CombatSelfDefense "This is such a false equivalency. I’ve equally avoided aikido, and I’m still alive." yeah, maybe for now ... assuming of course you won't allow your bjj/mma ego to bite you in the ass one day, you can choose to ignore it but the results do not lie my friend, in the past 2 years 3 bjj/mma champions were killed because of ego, 1 more hospitalized for the same reason and guess what: no aikido, no bujinkan, no karate no tma anything ... and why is that? because unlike bjj/mma, they do NOT have a false sense of reality, they do NOT have a misplaced superiority complex and they DO NOT look down on other people just because they're not practicing their style ... in tma, people respect one another, they do not try to one-up eachother in any kind of way, they do not have this machismo BS in their blood to shittest everyone else to pat themselves on the back like you are doing now, as usual you only see things from 1 narrow-minded POV which is "can my style kick the other guy's ass or not" ... there are ways around that: getting jacked, surround yourself with friends backing you up at all times, weapons, you name it, ego on the other hand cannot be avoided or controlled when you're team mma/bjj, and ego is the killer, let's just hope for your sake you won't have to find out the hard way ... as for your other reply, I don't start a youtube channel for the same reason you DID start a youtube channel: because I know people are generally ignorant morons who only care about the mainstream stuff, whichever is omnipresent and popular, starting a channel in order to help people spreading the awful reality of self defence won't amount to anything because people won't click on it because I don't preach mma, I don't preach the Gracie Kool Aid, I don't preach whatever is trendy out there, you claim I'm not helping anybody and I'm only amusing you, dude, I don't give a flying F about you or your channel, you're missing the whole point and the point is WHY DRIVE WHEN YOU CAN GET DRIVEN you claim I'm just alerting you, giving you the attention you want and while that may indirectly be the case that's completely irrelevant to me, you could make a billion dollars for all I care it won't change a thing you're still an ignorant douche, what is relevant to me is if I can reach even one person out there and keeping that person from making the same mistake people like Leandro Lo and Tiago Guma made, I will already have served my purpose, I will already have contributed my part to the self defence community and I will already have contributed far more than you and your bjj/mma propaganda scam channel ever will have, the irony of it all is that you claim you live rent free in my head and that I'm just helping your channel by keep posting my takes on things, but in reality you're the big youtube guy who keeps replying to a so called channel-less nobody ... which leads me to believe I must be doing something right because you take time to reply and therefore, whether you like it or not, apparently I do bother you, otherwise you would just ignore me, and while you believe I'm just supplying your channel, it is in reality me who's using people like you with mainstream popular youtube channels to take advantage of this fact and use your channel to spread my message, knowing that even without a youtube channel of my own, it would prove far more fruitful than start my own channel and spread the message that way, with videos nobody will give a flying F about ... why would I bother doing that if I could just take someone's channel that already has tons of watchers and subscribers and spreading the message that way, knowing that at the very least people are watching my message whether they like it or not, if they choose to remain ignorant or stigmatize me or ignore me so what lol that's the default response I would expect from most people anyway even if I did have my own channel, it's a win win situation for me lol, so in a way I should thank people like you (you'll understand if I don't) for granting me the free opportunity to spread the message of real self defence without me even having to lift a single finger, and the more you reply, the more I know my message stings and the more still I will continue to do it, that's how winning is done, persistance, something you clearly know very little about (that's how you never went past brown belt in Bujinkan and simply chose the bare minimum mainstream bjj/mma easy way out instead, like you and millions of others: a dime in a dozen) ... face it friend, you are nothing but a tool to get the real message across, too bad only the happy few will take the time to absorb the widsom and better their lives instead of ending or severely reducing their lives the way people like you do because fame because money because glory ... none of this will matter when you end up in hospital while beaten comatose, in a wheelchair with CTE or worse still ... DEAD ... do with it as you will, in any case I will keep spreading my message so be a good boy now and keep posting ignorant videos for me to use against you and get my point across :) ... FYI consider this a REAL LIFE example of verbal jutaijutsu
So how much were you paid to promote these brass knuckles? I mean I find a lot wrong with what you're saying. Granted I find this type of weapon cool which is probably why RU-vid recommended this video. But it's not really a practical self-defense weapon. You don't punch with them like a regular punch. You have to do kind of a short little kind of a Haymaker rabbit punch type thing. And you wear them along your lower Knuckles like you show the second time. You do mention legality and that's good brass knuckles are illegal a lot of places. Not where I live. But still I carry pepper spray which is a much better self-defense weapon than brass knuckles. It gets you away from the target you don't have to close in. And it takes very little training and body mechanics to use. My mom can use pepper spray she can't use brass knuckles. My mom could also use a gun but I'm sticking this to less lethal. You also mention knives and flashlights. And first the flashlight is not a weapon. It's a tool like you said but honestly you should be carrying something better for self-defense then just a flashlight. And expect to not blind the person and actually not do much damage when you're hitting them with it. Also expect to break your flashlight. On to the knife that's a pocket folding knife it's more of a tool than a weapon. It's still deadly don't get me wrong but it's not again a very good self-defense weapon because one it folds and so it's weaker than a fixed blade knife and two you need a good size blade on a knife. I recommend no shorter than 7 in for the blade. And I have concealed carried a kabar knife. It's very simple to do. I don't know this is kind of rambling. Tldr pepper spray is way better than brass knuckles.
Running away as your defense? Okay. But... What is the natural response of a predator like a mountain lion or bear if you run? Usually, it is to attack. And, they can run faster than you can, and you've given your back. I know, just run faster than someone you are with, hahaha. Human predators as very similar. Not saying fight human predators every time. However please know, sometimes running might be the very worst answer. Talking your way out of things is probably a better answer than running in many instances. You run, you validate their belief they can take you. What about the next time you meet them????
The things I've found best for self defense while running are:1. flashlight 2. whistle 3. mouthpiece... I put in a mouthpiece once and it stopped me from getting mugged! LOL I guess it makes you look like you're ready to fight!
I'm over 50 years old and have used these tools in the past to 1. get attention when needed 2. temporarily blind and stop both people and animals and 3. bluff my way out of fights... not joking. the telling someone to wait and then putting a mouthpiece in worked.
Most places I've lived it's way easier to explain away a medium sized pocket knife than brass knuckles. ”i use it for making sandwiches and opening packages at work ". Its camping equipment. Brass knuckles there's no legit explanation for why you're carrying it. Collapsible batons the same. Like a lightweight 4" blade flippy lockback can be a good option. Not illegal and plenty effective.
For many years I practiced Shukokai Karate..........later in life I took up JKD in Bangkok....I learned more about real fighting in 6 months than I had is 6 years. The Sifu simply didn't teach anything that didn't work and I had the bruises to prove it. There were no demos where your opponent played along, everything was open to counter attacks.........
@@kieronhoswell2722 well i got nothing to say bc idk what to say to foreigners when other nations tend to have banned every tool available for self defense let alone have good self defense laws in place for such incidents
I user to be the fighter archetype but the sensei taught me a lesson. There was only one kid in our dojo, a 11 years old and the sensei said "you gonna spar him, and only him from now on until you learn control, and if you hurt him Imma beat you up." 😂 Turned out it did me good. I've learned to attack in weird angles and to be more precise since the kid despite lacking strenght(for obvious reasons) was very fast. Then a guy in his 20's that came from muay thai started doing karate with us and he was such a good partner for me we hurted each other a lot then we went to hang out after training, what a great guy I miss him.
So wrong. It is not so much a style or training issue. It is all about what scores in the rules set of the sport. No wrestler or sambo or BJJ practioner ever became Judo Olympic champ. It takes many years of intense practice to get used to rules on the highest level. You have to be aware what the judges look out for. That is why many matches at the highest level a won on minimal scores, tactics and fight IQ matter a lot on the highest levels. You cannot judge the martial art part of a sport like Judo by only looking at the sports part.
So now if Kenpo practitioners offer a rebutle they are just making excuses !? Have you ever practiced Kenpo? Watching you shadow box was a little painful for me. I think you should build balance and form before giving your opinion on fighting or martial arts.
wrt "you tend to want to avoid bone-on-bone collision", and hen you demoinstrate a punch to the head where you turn the fist over. When hitting to the side of the head and even to the skull or to the face, there is no need to throw that kind of punch. It is much safer and just as effective to strike using the inside of your fist, with the thumb held to the side of the fist. You may remember that was in fact the only way that a fighter was permotted to strike at the head in the old Pankration competition (see old Bas Rutten videos to watch those fights). Ofc, this kind of striking is not effective to the body, but it is by face the best and safest way to strike the boney parts of the head if using a fist. There are some technical points ot make about striking with the inside surfaces of the fist. 1. There are three potential contact points, the "knocking knuckles" (the knuckles you use when knocking on a door), the entirety of the surface of the inside of the fist, and the thenar muscles 2. The elbow of the striking arm always points down to the ground 3. Make sure you use contralateral rotation of the shoulders to get power (right hand strikes, left shoulder pulls back, kind of like starting a lawn mower) 4. While being a good way to strike at all distances, keep the scapula depressed at close distances (for stiffness of the blow at contact and for shplder stablity ) but you can extend the scapula for striking at longer distannces 5. Don't loop your punches. Again, power comes substantially from contralateral sholder rotation 6. These punches can be as straight as you like but you can also through straight and then hook at the end, bringing the inside of the fist onto the hitting surface with a whip at the end of the blow (for example, when striking the chin or jaw). 7. These punches become even more powerful if you change weight (from one leg to the other) as you hit. 8. These punches can also be thrown with a whipping or chopping action. For example, whipping the knocking knuckles into the face can damage the eyes, break the nose, knocl out teeth. It is very effective at short range por very close quarters. You might like to experiment with this. Cheers.
You make some good points. Why is there so much time spent on discrediting marshal art styles. If your good at martial arts it will work if applied properly. It doesn't mean that will win . There's more that goes into a fight than just skill. But if your good at that martial art it will usually prevail in a typical street fight with the untrained.
@CombatSelfDefense ....I wonder if the Legality of this item would be called into question, it does not look like The Conventional or Traditional Brass Knuckles that people are accustomed to seeing.
Thankfully you said it in the end. If you haven't trained how to punch the knuckles are of no use. Especially if you are a woman facing a heavier and stronger attacker
Have to agree with you. I trained in Hapkido but being trained and actually knowing how to fight is what will make a style work. You can study it and get a black belt in ANY style but not know what you’re actually doing.
@@CombatSelfDefense In case you live where brass knuks are illegal their is a legal alternative they sell small jogging weights hand held little barbells with adjustable weight plates quarter size rubber coated lead weights but get this it also come with a padded D guard handle bar makes it identicle design as brass knuks. Also another is get your own copy of the runners baton that is passed from runner to runner in relay races, i find a medium size maglight is about the right size ,then just tell cops you used to run track in school and you like thr feel of running with a baton. They cant arrest you for that and it is a good subs for a kobaton stick. Professor Lon A.S.A.X.s Martial Arts.
I don't know where the myth of Taekwondo not having any hand strikes comes from. every single taekwondo school i know trains to use the hands in the traditional way like Karate but we also have sessions where we train to be more dynamic and use the hands more like a Boxer also Taekwondo hast many original hand techniques but we have three different styles in Taekwondo ITF, WTF and traditional but as far as i know only in WTF hands are traditionaly Not used as much as in the other two Styles. Don't Talk about taekwondo If you know nothing about it. We don't only kick
