A bit late for me to weigh in on this one, but it looked as though there was enough material to split the opal through the colour bar and make 2! Then you could dice the upper and on one, dice the lower sand in the other
Tbf, lab created/synthesized opals are real opals, just like lab created diamonds are real diamonds. Also, THAT Brazilian opal was higher quality than THAT Ethiopian opal, but there are some exquisitely stunning Ethiopian opals out there.
Love you to man thanks for all the info ! Finally Bought my kit been wanting to start making jewelry for a while, Trying to do my research before jumping in haha
Fake opal looks like it's almost made up of that clear stuff they use for molds... With holo flakes throughout it. Which is why it stays consistent with the pattern... Rather than. Almost like an Aurora Borealis... Flowing, almost like strokes from an artists paintbrush... Or the rivers flowing downstream... Thank you, man.
great fun video! Glad to see you reached over 1k subs! add one more to the list! I just bought a bunch of this stuff and am excited to try doing a sand or plaster casting to make a ring from a wax cut out. Loved the video and great to learn from your mistakes. haha! thanks!
What year followers are going to be mad at you bro gold and silver when you temper them they are opposite of steel iron heat up gold silver immediately clinched makes them soft let cool down slowly make some hard
In my opinion the Ethiopian Opal is the prettiest of them all, and it IS the most durable. A drop test was conducted from 4 feet, and the Ethiopian opal is the only opal that did not crack.
Very nice video. Your sound is great! I don't know if you are still cutting or not, but if you are, you should try Riley Gunn's dopping system. When I see that green wax these days, I shudder, thinking about how difficult and generally horrible dopping wax is. It use to be a catastrophe when a stone fell off of the dop stick. Now ... it very rarely happens and it's no big deal. If you let me know where to send it, I will send you one of Riley's kits. Life-changing!
I"m sorry that I did not know about your channel when you were still active! I have a lot of contact with Roy and some with Opal Mills. As a retired physician, as both a professor and in private practice, I know a little bit about careers and life. It's a no-brainer to pursue opportunities that will take you to your next level, but it is sometimes easy to just relax. The video teaser was great! The movie industry is tough to get into and to be a success in, but it seems like all "occupations" are difficult these days! If I can help you with opal or anything else, just let me know (on my website, there is a "contact" or "info" link. (It's just an email link). Good luck in your pursuits and continue to make important decisions wisely! Maybe I will see you one year in Tucson? don pulitzer
you have to pretorch or preheat your mold too...if you pour into a cold mold itll solidify the silver instantly because it pulls the heat out of the silver
Clarification, mmap pro is propane that has an additive in it. Mmap pro burns up to 130 degrees hotter than regular propane. Real Mapp gas hasn't been produced in, about, 16 years.
I totally love your invention with the cabbing machine 😊. Such a great idea 💡. I probably wouldn't be using the bir your using though, especially for Ethiopian opal. Its really soft and it doesn't take much to get through it. You can also crack or chip the stone with a bir like that. I would probably use that bir for really stubborn dirt with opal from Cooper Pedy, lightning ridge ect. Its up to you but I just wanted to give some advice.
