Different time when college football was ‘college football’ The game was played by those who loved it more than the prestige, notoriety and certainty not the money. I was born in T-Town under the regime of The Bear- He was more of a Daddy who would take boys and young men and teach and prepare them not only for football, but incorporated the sport into part of the educational experience to prepare them for life in all it’s complexities, trials and tribulations to overcome and persevere .🏈ROLL TIDE ROLL!🏈
Thank you for posting this! NYRA/Fox only gave us the replay on the day, since Belmont at the BigA is underway. Wondered where Maggie was, and I always miss Laffit after the Saratoga meet. Selfishly, I wish he'd stick to horses, but he's the best on the desk -- just won that excellence in broadcasting award in sports. Heck of a researcher... can reveal more historical facts than Andy Serling, by far. Randy Moss (NBC Sports) is excellent, too (TDN Podcast on YT). Guys with shrill tenor voices really shouldn't bother with announcing. Their voices grate on the nerves before too long... Horseshoes as paperweights. 👍 ... better than hockey pucks, and sport-resonant.😁 Remember that, if it's windy in Riyadh next year, Laffit. T. Anna's the best. The guys had to box her in on the rail to keep her from winning the Travers. Same 111 Beyer figure as Fierceness. She's so fast, she doesn't need the rail to win. Since they both had the same speed figure, wouldn't it be fun to see a match race? She would win. Fierceness has 'a name,' but he is NOT a grizzly... and not versatile enough to be Horse of The Year. Imo. I can just hear it now. . . "But... she didn't win in her usual fashion. . . " She won a Grade 1 race! After just shipping in from her happy circumstances in Saratoga. At least not ALL racing fans are "what have you done for me lately" types.😏 And she wears NO accoutrements. I think Horses of the Year should be Thorpedo Anna and Senor Buscador, because they both made my year!
Curious to know what year this was filmed, I did a little research. Secretariat & Genuine Risk’s 1st mating was in 1982. (He had the distinction of being her very 1st hookup.) Following their stillborn foal’s 1983 birth, they again mated that same year.
@@williamdunphy352 On the rare occasion that I lend ANY credence to what Serling says, I NEVER bet the horses that Andy likes, and it's worked out great for me. He may be the WORST handicapper, and one of the worst TV personalities, in the horseracing business. The Saratoga meet was great to watch, with Pincay and Kinchen and Wolf and Mig and Lo Duca and Amoss and Wolfendale and Clement, but Andy Serling ruins the whole thing when he's in that mix. The ONLY reason he's relevant at all is because the NYRA signs his paychecks.
Who is the annoying jerk who is on with DeCamara and Richie? So many jokes about DeCamara (yes I get it) from this giggling 3rd wheel with an annoying laugh and voice.
She was bred to him twice the first was stillborn and the second breeding didn't take. She was bred to many different studs but only produced 2 colts that never raced. One of her stud colts did sire some minor winners. I heard one horse breeder say that the mares that can beat the boys are not good brood mares. He said that they had an imbalance of hormones having too much testosterone that allows them to race so well.
@@beckyshell4649 Thanx Becky. There may be something to that explanation...maybe. Zenyatta hasn't fared well in this regard, neither has Rachel Alexandra. Ruffian never had that opportunity. How sad it all is!
@@BeveC21E Not all champions mares were failures as broodmares. Personal Ensign is a prime example. Although it seems to be the case for most of the greatest fillies/mares.
What a treat to see some "fresh" footage of our boy Barbaro! He never fails to invoke tears & a bittersweet angst. What a horse. Nice job on the interview, Alex! Thank you for posting this, pushinarock!
