We can have these types of discussions, yet the people whom need to hear this are NOT the ones who are LISTENING to THIS! Great information! And I am one who has struggled with anxiety and depression that has been clinically diagnosed.

Because we tend to be visual ppl, I wish these clinicians did have actual numbers of those black churches that are allotting their financial resources in the area of mental health. There are so many of our people struggling with mental health issues and cannot afford or have limited insurance coverage for Mental Health Issues.

This was so so good. Hope there will be a foillow up .The Black church and Black families need to have these conversations on mental wellness & unwellness without fetishising scriptures & gaslighting people 's hurt and struggles into silence.

Hey y’all!!! I love this discussion. After years I finally passed the CHES exam recently and going for MCHES April 2023. Everything you all are discussing so relevant, and love the impact. One thing I’d like to comment on though is your CHES and or MCHES although does not license you like a LSW or LCSW, on the practitioner side of credentialed health educators is motivational interviewing and still being able to leverage the credential to provide behavior change modification like in Diabetes, Asthma and even obesity coaching. Also now with modifications to CPT Codes under AMA we can bill as health coaches, which in my opinion fits under mental health perspectives.

Wow, i typed in bigotry against the mentally ill and this was the first result on the today page. A video about racism. Shocking that no one understands how oppression works against the legally protected class that is people suffering from mental illness.

We need to teach that deliverance is a process. We need to teach Jesus love you despite your mental health. Everybody in the Bible did not get healed tomorrow morning. Some people never got healed and die. This does not mean God is fake nor a lack of faith. This generation need to understand their salvation is not based on people but God. I am leader but have a therapist. I teach the word

amen to this. folks need to stop gaslighting people with bible verses instead of referring them to the help they need and instead of acting like illness and mental unwellness are a sign of insufficient faith or even a manifestation of 'sin' .It is so unkind, so unloving, lacking in patience or the love of Christ. We need to do better

Christopher hits the nail on the head , there’s a serious, to the level of toxicity, lack of education when it comes to mental illness in the black community, and especially in the black church.

first off. I think Miles should try a different med. His depression sent me back to the memories/experience I had when I was younger.. But, trying different meds also may bring worsening depression. You become such a guinea pig. Taking a genetic test enables and helps you to see what type of meds are better for you than others. Some do more harm then help. I have been there and done that. If Karen and/or Miles would like to talk and ask me questions I am here for them. Please let them know.

Hi! I liked this a lot. I've been trying to research for a knowledgable video similar to yours that explains the stuff in this RU-vid video. The idea at 1:28 is my favorite. Your vid really reminds me of the vids from Dr. Ethan. Dr Ethan's videos are really insightful and he really helped me a lot on my midterms. I recommend you check out his channel out and give Doctor Ethan a subscribe! 👉 #MedicalStudentEthan
