Yeah its still lovely. The group from 2018 was still the best though. They had so much cohesion and the sound just seemed to work better. I bet this group here will get alot better over the next years!
Ive been playing (On and Off) for 53 years, in the Military and after as a professional and Doc has been the constant inspiration to all my playing and still is. When I need inspiration I listen to Doc.
The guy was like a human air compressor. Was at the Musicians union Local 47 in Hollywood and went to the rehearsal he and his band were doing for a road tour. He grabbed his horn out of the grand piano it was setting in and played a double high A. The condensation flew out of the bell and across the piano like it was shot out and the A was plastered against the far wall in the rehearsal room. The only thing I could hear coming out of his horn was air, the note was projected like it was shot out. This was about the same time as this video. It was awesome!
Being chosen by the legendary John Williams is a testament to Tim Morrison's exceptional talent. I can only imagine how impressed Williams must have been when they first met. It's incredibly touching that Williams dedicated 'Summon the Heroes,' the official song of the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, to Morrison, as noted in the song's title. In our culture, this recognition is akin to a talented horse finally finding its perfect rider. It's a beautiful example of the bond between two geniuses.
Any Tommy medley that doesn't contain either Go To The Mirror or the Amazing Journey solo-vamp feels like a missed opportunity...but then again, we can always welcome that "slide trumpet"/"soprano trombone"/whatever-you-want-to-call-it
