Just dropped in to say that you guys are the handsomest (?) couple I have seen in a long time! Please take this as a sincere compliment - nothing more. You absolutely deserve each other. Hopefully we'll meet in not too distant future as my wife and I are planning to visit your beautiful land. As soon as this plague is over... Best from NYC. Dan
Wow that's cool, this is a young adult with gorgeous coloring , they have great coats of hair and its funny some look like they just came out of a beauty shop others look like they have been on a crack binge for a week.
We just returned and the road doesn't appear to have gotten any better, actually appeared worse. We had a rental car and downloaded maps for the GPS. I routed us slightly different (must have had shortest route method selected) and it gave us what appeared to be a cut off...OMG! Very, very rough road and muddy in some spots as it was raining. My husband did a fabulous job driving while I had my eyes closed quite often. We made it and it is now "part of the experience" but it was harrowing. Glad we didn't have to go back the same way, however, roads off the main highways are generally in poor repair. Lots of pot holes so beware. BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!
In 2013, my wife and I were on a tour (in a big bus ... like **big**) and were driven up this route on our way to Monteverde. I'm not sure where we got onto 606 from however ... does anyone know where this begins? Anyway, one of the more treacherous drives I've ever been on ... along with most of the passengers. We found that once the paved section ended, and in the rain, and the dark ... well, we were frankly scared to death. With that said ... does anyone know if the road has been paved over yet all the way into Santa Elana / Monteverde? I have no chance of ever getting her to go back there with me again if there isn't a less frightening route than that ... and I *really* want to go back. Even if it has been paved, is there a less scarier route that could be driven?
I drove the 606 from Lake Arenal towards St. Elena in January 2019. It was even more rough than in your video, really deep ruts and quite big stones on the road. Uphill slalom. I actually wondered why the GPS said 3.5 hours for 120 km, even more as we had already 80 km left behind us in bit more than 1 hour.

This felt like we had been through battle and back by the time we got to Montazuma from Flamingo. Taking the ferry for sure next time!! ugh. The amazing little Italian place up the hill from Montezuma and their lemoncello made it all worth it though!!
This is an absolutely amazing and inspiring video! I'm planning myself to visit Costa Rica sometime, and this video made me even more interested in getting there :-) Thank you for sharing this great adventure! :)

Hi Kelli Compton, the waterfalls is Cortes in Bagaces (near Liberia). It's awesome if you have the chance to visit when you come. We are planning on settling in one place soon. We LOVE the southern zone on the Pacific side/Uvita area. Have a great trip and definitely let us know if you have any questions!
What is the name of the large waterfalls seen in the Arenal segment? Are you guys planning on settling into a specific town after seeing most places? I would be curious to know where you would think that is! We are visiting for the first time in 5 weeks... We cannot wait!!! Thank you for sharing this amazing video.
