In fact, I agree with the explanation that the brain uses the visual system and eyes in the background as part of the process of perceiving and processing pain. I believe that certain areas of our brain share new facts with the entire brain and have an impact on them. It is important to carefully observe and recognize pain patterns and come up with new patterns that fit them. I really listened to your great words. thank you.
TMS was created by Dr John Sarno in the 50’s, a back pain doctor, who was fed up with treating his patients with drugs having none of them get better. He discovered how the brain can keep people in constant pain even after healing from injury. His method was taken up by Dr Howard Shcubinar who has healed thousands of people with intense, uncontrollable persistent pain who had never been helped before. I have 50 to 75% healed from many Fibromyalgia symptoms in one year. Many others have too. No exercises, no supplements…..just reprogramming the brain.
Aloha David, I really look forward to this upcoming series. Mutiple falls as a child, fottbal through high school, and 40 years of surfing. Many years in the Haawaiian islands and very heay consequences. As you may know the recognition of concussions and brain trauma is being recognized in all spectrums of sports now. Being in the fields of athletic perofmance, training and conditioning for 40 years, this series from a Feldenkrias prespective, and your years of practice and insights, is needed and appreciated. Mahalo nui loa, Coach Michael Holland
I Love this method and this channel. May be it is an error of the uplowd of this video, but they are very disturbing ads in between of this lesson, so that it is very dificut to focus on it. may be you can change it to pre and after ads? Thanks a lot!
I want to start this. I’m 69, have severe spine problems and a deformity, plus autoimmune diseases and now Lyme and Babesia. It’s been a cascade of health problems (toxin-based! for 21 years (probably since childhood), and I’m sick of it! I used to do yoga religiously, but had a trauma induced breakdown, and now I find it hard to go anywhere. I want to move from this money pit if a house!
Absolutely one of my favorite ATM lessons. Russell, I believe you taught a version of this at a weekend workshop in Bend, Oregon, a number of years ago. I attempt to teach this lesson to my students with as much depth, focus and thoughtfulness at least 3-4 times a year. Thank you so much
Joan Farkas, metro Detroit USA. I trained with Jeremy Kraus (Jerry Karzen, Donna Ray, et al) as a student who knew nothing about the method. Well- being is what I learned and since 2008 I’ve been growing my awareness and ability to feel whole. So much improvement over the years. So grateful to have this experience to help myself and others.
Thank you David. A wonderful class. I found a great reduction in pain after wards. I am 66 have hypermobile joints , fibromyalgia various past injuries including a fractured tailbone. Very grateful 🙏
I have done this class twice today. It is astonishing! Just what I’ve needed for my shoulder arthritis! Thank you, David! I look forward to next week! Yours, Elise - San Francisco ❤️
I’m so sorry I had to miss this when it was live but I’m very anxious to find an hour later this evening to go through this lesson… Thank you all & thank you especially David for your amazing contribution to Feldenkrais and our well-being!
I have been doing these exercises the last week or so and they have been great for my nervous system which has become dysregulated by long covid. However, just a couple days ago I developed a lot of muscle soreness in my neck. I’m wondering if it may be from the exercises. I’ve been trying to do them extremely gently so wanted to hear if this is a possibility. I’ve done the various exercises from 1-3 times a day. It also may be from seething unrelated as I do get some unexplainable aches and pains!
I'd suggest doing even smaller movements than you are already doing, and maybe even doing some of the movements in your imagination to see if that diminishes any soreness in your neck. Let us know how it goes.

Wonderful Q & A!!! Thank you David and Juniper for this WONDERFUL opportunity to learn more about Feldenkrais from a MASTER! I appreciate the unstructured time. Thank you for answering my questions. I am happy to have this to hear again! The posture series classes you mention are FANTASTIC! I first learned about contraction of the abdominal or flexor muscles from you! The Q & A with your classes are extremely useful!
Thank you so, David for your body of work and for sharing this deep dive. I appreciate your gentle yet direct ways of describing the impact living has on all of us and that there is a path toward healing the rifts that bind. Thank you.
