It is crazy that I had no idea that it even existed, and crazier still that my wife and daughter found some tool I didn’t have, that I really needed. Thanks for taking the time to leave a great comment.
When I went back and tilled it and made new rows to plant beans I found 4-5 chewed up taters. I did go through loose soil with a rake before tilling and found quite a few more (easily)
Sir Winston Churchill once said, why stand when you can sit, why sit when you can lay down. I like your version of this, why dig potatoes by hand when the mid buster can do it for you!
Used a rake through the fluffed up dirt. Basically just pulling the dirt back into the trench. To guess I’d say 20% were not visible on the surface, but easy to uncover since the ground was real loose.
I have a subsoiler, wonder if that sweep could be purchased separately. I purchased a post brush puller from Titan and it had hose ends that did not fit my tractor so I had to buy new ends at a cost of almost $100. Their answer was that was only ends they stocked. So I bought them twice. Kinda left me with a bad taste.
Do you find the deer will jump your 4’ electric fence? I’m in nwpa and have just. 28” electric fence around our garden and it keeps the deer out. They don’t attempt to jump it at all.
Great Question! Last year I only had the one garden down the hill a bit from this one, and had the electric fence up all the way around it and the deer did jump my fence to get to my crops. This year I added the 7' mesh fence and so far, no breaches by any non-flying critters so far in either the upper or lower garden.
Yep, that’s what my cup holder looks like too. Working on an ammo can tool box located on tip over cage. Why these tractor manufacturers can’t put a tool box on these vehicles is beyond me.
I have a factory tool box but does not fit with the seat from the backhoe, so rather than take it off every time I put on the backhoe, I just leave it off. The cup holders became default pin storage.
Use those old style turn light holes (Black plugs on the fender) to store your Rop pins in if you have to lower your ROPs.. That is where I store mine.
That's as handy as a pocket on a shirt! I thought it was just me that kept bolts and pins in his cup holders! Temps going into the high 30°s here for the next few days...way too hot for me...good time to hang out in the basement shop where it's nice and cool 😎
High 30’s C, that is pushing the limits. Even hotter than it has been here. Did manage to get my beans planted this weekend, so I’m happy about that. Stay cool!
Hello, I am Sakib Ahsan Tamim. And you? Hello, I saw that in your content quality is good, but not getting much engagement, Then, I analyzed your YT channel and I saw that in your channel have some problems, that's why your channel is not growing. Your videos is not reaching to targeted people, not getting engagement. Do you want to know these problems? If you can give me permission I can tell here, . Where Can I tell? here or email? fb, twitter, telegram, Instagram, anywhere I am available, also here. Where you want to gain this knowledge? And also a question, how are you>? I am good...I subscribed to you. Again, Do you want to gain the knowledge?
Thanks for the feedback Mohammed, much appreciated. Tough to balance what all is of potential value against what people would actually watch. You are likely right a longer video with more detail would be great for people like you and I who apparently have greater than average attention spans :) Most people choose what to watch based on which videos are shorter. It was fun trying to do a scarf joint for the first time, and I'm pleased to say it is still holding up great in the greenhouse.
You always find great stuff! My dad worked most of his life at a couple sign companies where he taught me how to use a sheet metal brake, spot welder, spray painting booth, band saws, scroll saws, and so much more. I am so thankful he invested that time in me.
Time to try some new crafty builds JW. By the way, May be an extra burden being the guy at the end of a dead end road… but at least it should be relatively quiet from a traffic perspective. Nice pot hole patch job.
Without the blades I think it was a fair price… looks like blades are $10-$15 each, so having a pile of them make it a good deal overall. I’m happy with the deal.
Roller blade, skateboard wheels also work good. And if you don't like the constant clang from wind, super easy to convert to a manual gong style. I think aluminum yanks sound better than steel, but that's just my opinion. Great upcycle projects!
I had heard the skateboard wheel suggestion elsewhere as well, do think that would be much nicer 'ring'. Thanks for taking the time to leave the comment, very much appreciate the feedback!
Hello Dennis, tobacco sticks are simply wooden sticks 4-5’ in length that were used to hang tobacco to dry in barns for generations. As the tobacco industry fazes out, thousands of these sticks are up for grabs across Kentucky.
Ive done this . Odd in ky as well . There more like bells than chimes but pretty cool none the less . If ya chop the top off making them a pipe then you can tune them very well .
I find they sound a bit like a railroad crossing if the wind times the repeat just right. How do you hang them when you cut the top off? I have 5 tanks left and despite by best efforts I just cant get the nozzles out of them, just cutting the tops off would get me around that.
It is still performing great for us. I do disconnect it in the winter when it is not needed, and on occasion I do have to go up there and clean out some bugs (bees and hornets etc) that get sucked in and stuck to the protective grill. Does serve to keep them out of the greenhouse though, so that is a win. This time of year it is running pretty much non-stop during the day, and is doing a great job and expelling the hottest air from the apex of the greenhouse, causing 'cooler' air to be drawn in from the other other end from outside. Never gets cooler than the outdoor temp obviously, but keeps it from cooking me and everything else that happens to be on the inside. I hope this answered your question, if not just hit me back up and I'll try harder. Thanks for checking out the video, much appreciated.
Wifey actually got me a 'brand' for Christmas, bit too big for the size of the stick, but just put one on a new project I'm trying to wrap up and that is building 'stackable produce crates'. I'm trying to figure out what is the right amount of time/pressure vs not. Sometimes too light, sometimes to dark (burnt), but I'll get it figured out at some point. Thanks for the comment David.
Mr. Fournier, thank you for your question. Yes it has been about 3 years, one of the first RK25's delivered in KY. They didn't even have one yet to show me, bought it on faith pretty much as I was there to order an RK24 until the sales rep asked me if I had seen the new "RK25". Very happy I ended up with the bigger RK25. So at this point, I would say I'm a 'weekend' user, not a full time farmer, 440 hours logged so far. My issues to date have been Bluetooth speakers did not connect well when I bought it, somehow fixed itself, but turns out I never use them anyways (Earbuds for me), I got a flat front tire, due to me driving over something, my fault. Lost 2 wheel lug nuts, taught me to check them occasionally (have not lost one since I added the wheel spacers / video available on my channel), and that is pretty much it. I would also add that at least 200 of my 400+ hours were using the backhoe or a PTO implement, so not just 'driving around', I've worked it hard, but not abusive. It has certainly paid for itself for me anyways already. I do worry about long term ongoing support for the tractor from RK, however knowing it is the same as the TYM T25 gives me some relief in that I can always order the same parts from TYM if necessary. To summarize, I am very happy. But, if I were a full time farmer kind of guy, just for the peace of mind, I might have considered a more expensive brand like a Massey or a Kubota, but for my needs, the RK25 works. I hope this has helped answer your question in some way. Looking forward to getting it out in the garden this weekend with a mid-buster on the back to harvest my potatoes.
Glad they worked out for you as they did for me. Makes getting these ol' vehicles without power steering into tight places a lot easier as well. Thanks for taking the time to leave the great feedback monmixer.
So you added the concentrate to water? like the stuff that's in the toilets? 😁😁 Tomatoes grow really good when you throw a dead fish in the ground before you plant them. Egg shell mix is good too 👍👍. We've done blood meal and bone meal before too. Even plants aren't vegetarian 😅😅
Never thought of it as plants being carnivores before, thanks for putting that in my brain. I added two table spoons per watering can, then filled with water before applying it. Hope all is well JW!
The egg shells and vinegar react together to balance out the PH, And end of the day it is a spoonful per gallon anyways. My tomatoes did not show any signs of issue, the opposite, they 'greened' up afterwards (after about a week), not sure if related, but my tomatoes and cucumbers are happy. None of my tomatoes split so far, so that is a good sign.
Great idea. I made an on-the-fly two chamber compost bin system out of pallets. I made it only one pallet wide which means its +/-3'-6" wide which precludes me from turning the compost with the tractor bucket and forcing me to turn it by hand. Needless to say, it doesn't get turned as often as it should. When I find the permanent place for the compost system, I will certainly remake it +/- 6'-0" wide on the rebuild. BTW - I also have an RK25 tractor. I purchased an RK25 about 18 months ago, based in part upon your review videos. Never took the time to thank you until now. Thanks, Chris, for the great content and effort applied to produce your videos.
@@TryNewThings I'm 190+ hours. - Love it! Couldn't / wouldn't even attempt more than 80% of the projects that I have on-going without it. Obviously, there are times when I wish it were bigger / stronger - but a great all-round piece of equipment.
They fill up pretty quick. I figure it takes 200-250 gallons to water the garden, so I can get 4-5 waterings in from full. I have just enough for one more so hope it rains. Been hauling water from the creek to keep the blackberries and apple trees alive 50 gal at a time.
@@TryNewThings I've got some updates coming. We haven't stopped working. I haven't had time to edit and post the videos. I haven't had a great luck yet with the cameras. Our RV Shelter is now completed. Our next stage is the rain catchment system and I love what you did so I'm stealing your ideas and modifying them for our location!!! Which side of KY are you on? We get so much dew running off the roof every morning just south of Corbin, that I think we could fill the tanks just from that!.
Appreciate the video, been debating between the 24 amd 25 vs SA line of Yanmars, who's dealer is quite a bit closer than RK. Question for you, I know the RK warranty is 2 yr/8yr, 3000 hr, but what is the warranty process? Have you had to take it in to get the maintenance done to keep warranty or can you DIY w/o voiding warranty? Also, im moderately curious on turning radius for this 25. Our property is only 2 acres but enough trees and obstacles ill need something decently nimble.
Have done all my own regularly scheduled maintenance does not void warranty. And you asked about turning radius. Turns a lot sharper than my 2 door Jeep for sure… here you go: ru-vid.comKIUBex8ayPk?si=hau_tW3MtDzOIiLT
How has this held up in high winds and storms? I'm gifting it to my dad tomorrow for Father's day. Now I'm anxious that it will fly like a kite off the top of that pole. Another video said predators like hawks and owls can get to the Martin's. Has anyone had such catastrophic results? Are you still happy with this purchase?
Year three for me on it. Leave it up all year, take down once each spring to clean it out. Currently have 4 Martin couples in it. My problem is keeping sparrows out. The red has faded some but otherwise has held up really good to wind and weather.
