Some people managed to loosen the bolt on the copilot bike hinge so it turns on that. So the main bike seat is not twisted. I couldn't loosen that bolt at all but i loosened the 4 bolts on the attachment on the main bike (little bit so it's still safe enough) so the pilot bike turns around the main bike seat without moving the seat itself.
My 2 bikes got stolen from home, 1 ebike and 1 mtb. I used long wire based lock, i know i know they can be cut with simple cutter, learned my lesson. I got into my car and roamed around vancouver, and was able to find my ebike lol. Still missing 1 i guess it's gone forever. Was going to buy this lock i thought let's do youtube search 1st. Guess i will go for u lock or something better. Thanks for the video.
Locks are for when you leave your bike alone while grocery shopping so someone just doesn’t jump on and leave unnoticed. If you leave your bike outside where someone can be alone with it for more than 10 minutes it’s gone, no matter the lock. I’m buying this lock because it works well enough, but I’m not stupid, ofc someone can break it if I let them.
@@MahmoudMahmoud-u6q It depends where you live and what the police are like. You'd have to be quite unlucky to get caught. And apparently the higher speed is allowed in some European countries.
Why've you singled out Trek on these issues? 😄 granted vids 7 years old but would be hard pushed to find a steel frame these days, most of them are scrapped
got the version with a code, use case: attaching my folding bike to the rack at the end of the train wagon, or secure a helmet, but not for securing outside
Interesting review but flawed in a few key areas. I found this review very personal, the bit about not buying from an entrepreneur whose first business failed is overly principled, most fail several times before learning and improving each time - look at Steve Jobs and Apple! The Cowboy 4 is better designed built and ride than the Van Hoof, I’ve had both. The real USP is the removable battery, that’s a game changer and makes recharging more convenient and renders the bike useless and less nickable. If you thinking of buying one I would highly recommend, mine is an absolute joy and I’ve fallen back in love with cycling. 😊
I had a Schwinn cruiser that I left on my porch unlocked to see if it would get stolen (it did and I was surprised and pissed - yeah, I'm stupid). Took about a month. All security depends on your location and your local asshole criminals. I was in suburban Houston, Texas (cars not bikes). I'd imagine any bike centric big city (not Houston) would be a problem - London, Brussels, San Francisco, New York.
yo what if I use the folding lock with a combination of a u lock. My bike is 300 dollars so I also don't want to spend too much on a lock. so with the 2 locks, it should be under 100 dollars.
Both of those locks sound easy to break. It depends where you are leaving the bike. Probably it would be better to buy one high quality lock like the Abus Granit X Plus, with a cable going through the other wheel to stop it being removed.
But you also recommended to buy the Orbea Carpe with accessories including the dynamo hub and light! :) ... Ended up on this video because I just got the Carpe 15 and trying to figure out if the dynamo light has an off switch but it seems you can't turn it off, which is a bit annoying.
You are wrong......tell them to make a bike difficult to take. Use this lock with what? Use it to lock the whele and a better lock to lock the frame. Or this lock is be used in towns smalltown Mayberry where the theives are not clever. No bike is safe, no lock saves a bike. I saw a crackhead in a busy nyc subway getting help from a kind nieve stranger to carry, what looked like, a stollen bike up the stairs to a "get away" uptown express train. It looked like hard work but he had the whole bike.
2:09 yep. I 1000% agree. All those links are twice the advantage for a thief. 2:31 forget about handiness. If the lock is a pain to put on AND it's strong? It's going to be a pain to get off! 4:02 I'm interested in that now
You Sir are a legend, I fitted a new chain to my e-mtb yesterday (22.06.24) went out today and had the issues you describe. Got home found this and yes, my chain link was upside down. Changed it over as suggested, and hey presto all good, and covered 14 miles with no issues.......thank you so much for sharing
1:25 I mean, if you're going to go to that much effort begging the Government for permission to unlock your own bike destructively, why not just have them come out and do it for you? They have breaching tools that are more than up to the task, and they'd probably love the practice. Down side is you may be more gentle than they would be. Also, saves you all of the expense of purchasing cheap knock-offs of the equipment cops have bought with the taxes extorted from you. 🤷♂
I've done so much research to see if the M2 battery would work on M1 and only thing i can't find is M2 battery dimensions, wondering if you could answer my question as eleglide support avoided answering me basically saying buy the m2 if you want better battery 😂 in your opinion do think the M2 battery would work on M1?
Hello - no I don't think this is a good idea. The battery's seem to be different in terms of Amps and Watts. And don't forget there is a controller, which has been configured to work with that model's specific battery...
Thanks for the Video, would you know why mine has P1 all the way to P7.. but I can’t find out what P5 P6 does, they only have 0-1 option when I click them
I've owned this bike since 2020 and I've made at least 6000km. I suggest to change the saddle (I use the smp trk) and improve the brake system (a shimano mt200 could be perfect).
Does it actually have suspention? If so how good is it. I'm considering buying it but my daughter is really fussy about bumps and I'm not sure if it will be a smooth enough ride for her? Thanks in advance
this is what I do to protect my E bike from getting stolen. 1. I put at least two AirTags in the frame somewhere where even if they find it they can't get it out 2. Take the battery It can't start the bike without it and most batteries cost at least 500 bucks So unless one of these dumb thieves has an endless supply of proprietary batteries and knows the voltages to each bike. The bike is worthless to them. 3. After you take off the battery and seat turn the bike USIDE DOWN and lock it up...
This is actually a Stupid argument: Most bike thieves whose been stealing bicycles for a living!?....has an eye to identify a real expense bicycle by mere looking at it and which bikes that are junk and they wouldn't even bother stealing and with a lock like this on those junk bicycles!?....they'll leave these junk bikes alone even if you don't lock them!
When you say if a thief has the universal key part they can break into any of them. What exactly do you mean ? If a thief has the universal kep part and approches a locked z lock, how will it help him ?
these are for quick park outside a shop and this at it's weight and compactness is perfect for that if you leave a bike in a remote area where someone can come with a loud grinder and noone cares nothing will prevent it from being stolen imo anything that requires an angle grinder and cannot be snipped with a pocket 7" wire cutter is ok for a 10min shop visit very unlikely someone will steal it if it requires 2 minutes of loud grinding to get through
