The paper thing is complete nonsense, but it is the correct way to do it, all the working out of cuts can easily be worked out ie the diameter of the tube x pi ÷ 4 would give you the length of the metal remaining.
If it is thin wall simply prep it correctly and weld it downhand. What is going on in the clip I am not familiar with, it certainly hasn't hot anything to do with welding (correctly that is)😂
Get a damn guard on that grinder 😂 I work at a steel shop and a few years ago had a coworker cutting some angle and his skinny wheel shattered and half of the wheel ended up sticking out of his face, literal millimeters from his eye. It ain’t something to fuck around with.
Angle of your rod is wrong, also that weld is just for looks. You need to run a full bead for penetration and with that thick of material you will never get it hot enough with tacks.
I worked with a guy who laid down very pretty stick welds. However, that was the extent of it. His welds were poor with very poor penetration but, they looked good . I suspect the welds laid out in this video are the same, especially if that square tube stock has any decent wall thickness.
it's too much. I once tried using a 1.2mm piece of plate and I bent it like an elbow and placed it instead of an electrode and it was useful when needed
The left and right swing is really needed bro so that the thickness and width of the welding match the iron plate we are welding, if you just pull straight the welding will be small
