A wonderful, albeit for me, virtual experience. The overcast sky over endless rhythm of running feet... did you mention the music in your intro, Barry? It's a perfect trifecta.

Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this, Barry. What I run about when I talk about Joyce.

Marukami & Fr Ted in the same presentation is a wordy nod to "association mania". Really enjoyed this talk. And yes, there's definitely Lithuanian in Finnegan's Wake. Kirk? As Joyce might say, plenty!

This fits well. I decided at the start of 2024, to drop Netflix and instead read. 6 weeks later, 6 books later and I am going to tackle Dubliners. Thanks Barry for this.

Thank you Barry,an education and insight for me. My late former wife was Irish and said i looked like Bernard Shaw??? Not sure that he is someone to be associated with?
@OldManRunner

Shaw was really interesting. Very much a one off who made up his own mind on things… a bit like Joyce. I really must find out more about him.

I'll have to finish it later Barry, help to pass my time on public transport, I'm half way through but really really interesting!! You might remember I studied literature at uni (for 7 years in total😆) and even when I don't personally enjoy an author or a specific book, I still THOROUGHLY enjoy studying them! I'm surprised by the way you speak that clearly your audience there in Riga were mostly native English speakers in fact ? I hadn't imagined that but yeah JJ fans would mostly be native English speakers I guess!! Or there was a translator perhaps? 🙋🏻‍♀

I didn't have a translator. One of the main reasons I made the video, so people could look back or check up on things. I tried to slow down my normal rate of speech a little, and mostly succeeded, but in listening back I have lots of improvements to make...

Such a novel combination. Great music and that park is a sight for sore eyes! Looking forward to more videos on JJ's haunts. 'Twould be great to have some excerpts of JJ's musings about the different places as you run past them, would that be possible?
