The Kidney Foundation of Canada is people working together for a common cause. We are volunteers, individuals living with kidney disease, donors, and staff members - from all walks of life, all across Canada.
Since its creation in 1964, The Kidney Foundation has helped millions of Canadians suffering from kidney failure and related disorders such as hypertension, diabetes, urinary tract infections and kidney stones.
I saw Gord fight in So You Think You're Tough contests in around 1979ish. I listened to his Berbick fight on the radio with the finalist in the 1st middleweight fight at PNE Gardens. Louie Torrao was my best friend growing up! RIP Grape!
Gordy, I read your story, on Wiki. I knew you were a top ranked fighter, and I have see clips of some of your fights, and you are obviously fundamentally solid. with good power. Lots of it. I read about your heel. Kudos to you for never giving up. Very inspiring. If you were a school teacher I would want my kids in your classroom.
I want to testify on how i got cured from Herpes. For the past years i have spent a lot of money in buying anti-virus medicines to strengthen my immune system and keep me healthy, until i read an article on the internet about an Africa Herbalist who uses herbs and roots to cure all kind of diseases&virus . Though i never believed he can cure Herpes, but i decided to give it a try. Then i contacted the herbalist on his email( drimonitiehome@gmail.com ) or Whatspp him on +2348141751132. He prepared herbal medicine and send it to me through UPS COURIER SERVICE and i took it as instructed. 14 days after he told me to go for a checkup,, i went to the hospital to do the checkup, the result came out and i tested HERPES NEGATIVE. I'm using this medium to say Thank you and i will be forever grateful for what you has done for me. facebook.com/Dr-imonitie-101481755145204/
Hu Gordie, It Freddy Fuller here.....ex Canadian and American Boxing Champion....not sure if you remember but you and I have talked a few times.....How are you and your family doing... I have recurring Kidney Stones and people just dont understand how something smaller than the POINT of a pin can cause you SO MUCH pain..It seems almost impossible getting hit in the ring...so hard....AND when you actually see how small this little thing is it is almost unbelievable that this little thing can cause so much pain. I have had several bouts with them they are definately not fun....and I would rather go a few rounds with you than have them again...at least I could run away.....but some people.... ...LIKE ME.... just have some thing in their system that creates these stones....and just like everything else.....you just learn to deal with it. BUT that time off got me into my art and if you ever want to see some really neat stuff just send me an email to replies@telus.net and I send you some samples of my art....even Boxers have to have something to fall back on...when their healing broken stuff....and ART is my fall back.
Hey Freddie! It's 2 years later. How is the kidney stones now? I can help you bc I know a bit about pain as I have a hernia injury! I fast regularly and why I have not been sick since 1986! That's the year I went to a vegan diet! I'm 70 years old, and I know from experience that ALL DISEASE IS TOXICITY! Cheers...

i've been on dialysis since 1999. biggest problems i see are with access maintenance. i've had several fistulas. great research would be on new ways of prolonging the life of a fistula and ways to repair them (rather than moving onto yet another site (i've had 4 thus far and may be out of new sites). most of the problems i'm guessing are from repeated needle sticks and aneurisms developing. if they would ever come up with a way to do the dialysis without needles that would be a huge huge step. find a way to keep a patent site long long term and you probably can last a long long time with the dialysis.
Those who know nothing \about what it is like well my brother was born with small KiDNEYS and would have died if I didn't tell a small town hospital , He being shipped to Ottawa and whoever think it easy, and Put yourself on You Tube to see yourself on the news, and C E O Of something he knows nothing about is nutz!!!!! Cause he did not get it from abusing himself,,,,,, and had a stroke, and been though transplant , which the anti rejection drugs were messing up his mind, I know first hand as I am with him as his blood pressure is so low he can't walk to the car , I WHEEL HIM OUT IN A WHEEL CHAIR, dont pretend to know , as you know nothing , nothing at all. five minutes of fame, really, You are not the kidney foundation, you really gave yourself a C E O, please pick something that you know a little more about rather than, fast cars.and, as everyone is well aware , I never said who !!! This is total crap....... put yourself in my Brother boots and maybe then you will know all about it, or ask a relative, or his friends as He is to weak to care but I will, be c e o as I know all there is to know,I almost lost him, in the icu at the civic Hospital in Ottawa, So really he is still here , thanks be to God, Also my father had a Kidney removed and no cancer, Thank You God, So I am C E O OF THE KIDNEY FOUNDATION, You have no idea only what you hear......... sad

Read how the kidneys are affected by alcohol. www.bettyfordcenter.org/treatment/doctors-office/how-are-kidneys-affected-by-drinking.php First, take a good look at your drinking. Alcoholism is especially hereditary from father to son to grandson. - See more at: www.bettyfordcenter.org/treatment/doctors-office/how-are-kidneys-affected-by-drinking.php#sthash.yzmYBJR1.dpuf

A shame, you see sincerity but it's clear that Alex himself really likes to drink. Drinking alcohol can: increase the chance of developing high blood pressure, which is the second leading cause of kidney disease interfere with medicines making it harder to control high blood pressure. Uncontrolled high blood pressure is more likely to damage kidneys. cause more frequent urination, which can lead to dehydration prevent the kidneys from maintaining a proper balance of body fluids and minerals damage kidney cells changing the structure and function of the kidneys
Alex you are the greatest and CLASSIEST rock guitarist OF ALL TIME! I hope I have the opportunity to shake your hand one day and thank you for everything your music has done for me. You are truly one of a kind. LONG LIVE RUSH!
Susan Jacks (formerly lead singer of the Poppy Family) actually had a kidney transplant recently and she has done at least one concert for the Kidney Foundation. I think she'd be great to do some of these videos.
Thanks Alex! I was diagnosed with kidney disease in 1997. Started dialysis in 1999 & continued this 3 times/week 5 hrs/session treatment until Dec.2004 (5-1/2 yrs). I got a kidney transplant then from a cadaver & have enjoyed good health since without anti-rejection/immunosuppressant drugs (my choice against doctor's advice). This is due to a strict diet (my choice) & daily exercise (also my choice).
Even if one doesn't have particular risk factors, it's important to raise awareness of "invisible" conditions like kidney disease. My autoimmune membranous glomerulonephritis is idiopathic.
Thank you <3 I have kidney disease but have had 2 kidney transplants (first one failed after a little over a decade so I had to wait on a life sustaining kidney machine called dialysis until I got "the call" for my next kidney) and really appreciate this video and the message of getting your kidneys checked regularly. Must be shared.
I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who did the walk this year. I am a patient myself and was there to welcome you home at COP, it was a very moving event to see you all cross the line, weary, sore but smiling, I am so proud of you and look forward to cheering you on next year. Way to go guys!!!!!
If you are interested in preventing further kidney damage, you might want to check out an iphone app called RENALTOUCH or the ipad app called RENALTOUCHXL. These apps allow people with kidney disease who are either on dialysis or who may soon be on dialysis learn what they can do to improve their quality of life. There is information about 8 areas of kidney health to explore with a question and answer format to reinforce learning.
I know exactly what Jason is going through as I spent 3 months on hemo and 3.7 yrs on peritonal diaylisis, One has to stay positive and never give up hope!
Les, people come from all over Canada (and beyond) to participate in Kidney March. Just let us know if you or someone you know would like some more information. 1-866-956-2724.
THIS is why there NEEDS to be more Awareness!! Check out the Give the Gift of Life Walks going on this year and take part. They are educational and there are lots of opportunities to ask questions there.
